I understand. For what it's worth I am admin of a forum for one of my websites which has been active since approx mid 2006 and never had signatures enabled (granted it's not gaming so people are less interested in sigs, they do like anime mind you :)). There is a sort of zen clarity in the forum and very few people have asked for signatures. We don't even have text signatures.

If I may suggest just one tiny little change (actually I just realize I might do it with Stylebot extension in Chrome) would be to make the signature text a darker shade, so that it would be easier to read through the replies.

Sorry if this was posted before, I'm guessing your sig is something that will be standardized for all players on the forums? Or maybe an API that gives people a PoE sig that can advertise the game on other forums?

You could also code it so that you can disable all forum signatures in preferences for the website..

I'd like an exit url (toggled in options of course) for external link protection or whatever, and the ability to make links in the sig, just like mods have. I'm sad there's no room to link the mumble software download page in mine, since it already looks bad with all those slashes and dots.

I would like to add, in pages with multiple posts from the same person, they should only get a signature on the very bottom post.

technically could just link your purposed sig image... at the bottom of each post... like how forum goers did before signature's were actually automatically put on.

As I've said elsewhere, that's sort of circumventing a deliberate restriction and would unfortunately fall under the 'no image spam' restriction.

I do sort of like the idea of signatures that somehow speak about our characters, though. Seems a common enough feature for game-linked fora, although most of the time the barrage of information baffles me. Something simple like the 'three dots' of Diablo 1 could be cool.

We could have forum "ranks" like they have, but something linked to the game characters. Like instead of 5 stars for the posting every day, you would have an icon indicating ruthless (from social tab in game) and then that would link to a list of your account's character names where there might be more information if you chose to share.

I know this is a tad bit of a necro post, but I'd much rather weigh in on a discussion that's already been started than start a brand new one.

Personally, I would love a little signature picture that's almost exactly like Russell's which would represent my favorite character in game.
