Immortal Mob
And I mean immortal. I was in The Cave on Merciless, a level 54 zone, with my level 57 ranger (who's not incredibly overpowered, but decent). I usually clear The Cave in 5-10 minutes depending on the size of it, but not this time. This time I ran into a Rare monster, one of the walking rock mobs, who was utterly unkillable.
It had Resist Lightning (duh, walking rock, that's standard), Regenerates Life, Can Gain Endurance Charges On Hit, and this is the kicker, Allies Regenerate Life. Yeah. I could not out-damage his base life regen with level 5 vulnerability or level 14 Projectile Weakness, poison arrow, and burning arrow, I simply could not get him below 75% hits. And that's only 3 modifiers, imagine if he had had lifeleech as well? As it was I fought him for 5 minutes solid before giving up. Point is, something needs to be done about the fact that Rare mobs can have both the self-regen modifier and the health regen aura, this should not be the case, because things like this happen where you have a mob that CANNOT DIE. And yes, I've had this happen to me with a necromancer, in a dungeon full of skeletons, that was a 15 minute fight, and only ended when I managed to shatter all the skeleton corpses on the entire level. There is a fine line between genius and insanity, I have erased that line and replaced it with a trout.

" That's a feature, not a bug. You're not expected to be able to kill every enemy with every build, and the devs have confirmed this before. |

This will actually be the downfall of the game. Hardcore players will bask in the glory, fanbois will sing the praises, casuals will walk away.
Having a challenge is fun, having an unbeatable challenge is not. Since these mobs are a random event. I've seen it before and a game cannot survive without the casual player base. My thread from May 10th: This is absurd In most games the most vocal portion of the posters are the hardcore / fanbois. This gives the developers the wrong impression of their actual game base. Catoring to casuals creates boring games..
I'm sick of having to walk away from games because they tailor to the "casual" player. And the most vocal portion is the people who care enough to say something. These "casual" players generally accept most of what gets thrown their way. Just look at WoW, their casual base is willing to accept anything.. even panda characters.. |

" The game had a BIG HARDCORE ARPG title on every announce I have seem before joining the beta. If it is wanted to sell more and pleasure many, it will look like D3 (I do not mean it in a bad way at all, its just the truth). " Getting newbies and vets to stick together is one of the points of game design, even if it has failed in most of the games out there. " Yes, lets looks at WOW.... " Your point being that you want this game to fail? Cause seriously, that downward spiral of the account residuals is due to the transition from casual to hardcore in that game. Greybear1andonly is a famous keyboarder with his whinny threads going on every second, so didn't surprise with his senseless posts honestly.
Other than him, what i would like to say to OP; "Pretty much this in short. If ya can't deal with, you have the option of "avoiding", no harm to you, pretty simple and clear. Hope you understand better now. "This is too good for you, very powerful ! You want - You take"

" I disagree. As long said mob is not a boss(or stopping you from progressing in game)and players are aware that there are mobs that they might not be able to kill in game its all good. All you are going to loose is a bit of loot that thing would drop. Game doesnt have to be casual to be success just look at Dota(2) and LoL.Much more demanding than PoE and they are rolling in $$. |
