ASDW movement option or fail
But...wait, wait! Guys! He has a point!
If we get WASD, we'll be that much closer to releasing a console-friendly version of the game! Doesn't that sound great?! I'd love to play this game with all the mature, upstanding folk on Xbox live! Imagine all the great conversations we'd have about each other's parents' sexual behaviour and how everyone *except the person speaking* is homosexual and does not do very well at life. Sounds grand. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

Good to see the standard of debate being kept high here.

Come on guys, you're missing the bigger picture here. This is a life saving feature request for gamers with musophobia.
You never know in a dark unclean place like wraeclast what could be carrying the next plague. A debilitating phobia like this could completely lead to an epidemic of players hugging their kiwis for moral support in the shore encampment, too afraid to venture forth into the terraces. |

...I've never been afraid of a muso in my life. There are people like that? Wow. Hippies, sure. They're scary. But a muso? Harmless creature, full of wonderful musical knowledge and trivia.
@Gus: it was already scraping the bottom of the barrel long before I threw my monkey in. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

Well that much is true. I guess it's okay, because two wrongs make...wait, I forget. :P

WASD movement + isometric graphics = epic fail. In other words, the OP is an idiot.

Edit: okay, no, nevermind that. You don't want to spend a minute to think about simple solutions that have been implemented a thousand times in other games before, that's fine.

Serious answer? Okay. But only because you really want one.
WASD is for driving a character. It works in a lot of games I love, and not just FPSes anymore. But for isometric or top-down games, I just don't see it working that well. Diablo 1 on ps1/psp did work but very, very clunkily. I can't think of a single ARPG where WASD has worked -- and by that I mean, please tell me of one, if you can. Sacred 2, Torchlight, Titan Quest, Nox, Darkstone, Dungeon Runners and the Diablo games all worked with point-and-click. You could WASD NwN1 from memory but it felt weird. I don't drive in an ARPG; I'm more removed than that. I guide and command. Unlike, say, Skyrim or Amalur, I am not the character, per se. I'm the guy telling the character where to go and what to do when they get there. To me, the ARPG has more roots, control-wise, in strategy games than in arcade games. It might be real-time, but there's still a memory, a trace of the turn-based, grid-designed rpgs, especially with things like cooldowns, mob placement and character movement. WASD just doesn't feel right at all to me with this sort of game. If they can make it work, fine. But all I'd do to me is wonder why have WASD+mouse if you can't strafe and fire. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

" HGL.. if it worked out as a game =D But rest of your points are valid. Too drunk to make more of this blurry text. Dernière édition par Evir#5190, le 11 mai 2012 à 04:32:23

" Ah, BS! You know HGL tried its damnedest to be anything but a traditional isometric ARPG but still retain the trappings of an ARPG. You definitely drove your character in that. I still think it's some malformed ancestor of Borderlands... If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.
