Chin Sol + blast rain

Projectile damage: Although Blast Rain does not fire projectiles (and therefore cannot benefit from projectile effects such as chaining and additional projectiles), like any bow skill it does deal projectile damage and will be affected by any appropriate damage modifiers (such as Physical Projectile Attack Damage Support).

All bow skills are projectile/arrow skills. A bow cannot deal damage that is not arrow damage, with the singular exception of Caustic Arrow releasing tentacle fart clouds, and even then Caustic Arrow's fart clouds are still allowed to scale with proj damage, and its initial shot is an arrow.

A bow Hit is an arrow Hit. If it wasn't, then nothing would make sense anymore and the world would spiral into endless chaos and collapse into a sea of fire.

My general understanding of the game tells me that "arrow" exclude area damage. I can be wrong though ofc.. I am searching now for something and am not able to find any confirmation/denial, only the tiny little thread where Vipermagi feels it the same. But that proves nothing, sure..

edit: also, a little question: why was the mod changed when (as you say) it still does exactly the same?

Yes chin-sol works with blast rain, I ran it as a trap in multiple leagues (it'd actually work now too :p)

I'm pretty certain that it doesn't do the same as before: There is a difference between the arrow of shrapnel shot and ice shot and the damage cone it triggers. Before the change the cones would benefit from more BOW damage, but not from more ARROW damage after the change.
The question is are the blast rain explosions treated like the shrapnel shot/ice shot cones by the game mechanic or not.

How do you know? How can you tell ingame if that mod applies?

You compared the damage output to a Rare bow of similar base DPS perhaps?

If Mark_GGG doesn't swoop in by Monday, I'm tempted to do some statistics.

Trapnel Shot Guy

GGG ran Trapnel Shot as a BotW a while back, so we know the mod worked then. I don't know when it was changed to 'Arrow Hits' instead of 'Bow Damage', but the guy says he's played this build up to 3.2 and it's still going strong. Has, in fact, been heavily buffed in recent days. So yeah, looking like this bit of empirical evidence at least attests to Chin Sol still working with most any bow attack, since a Shrapnel Shot trap is guaranteed to be less Arrow-y than Blast Rain, ne?

Because you can tell just swap it round with a lioneye's glare or something like that thats fairly similar damage, its easy to notice 100% More :p

Edit - I might have actually played this before they reworded chin-sol i didn't know they'd changed it from 100% more bow damage to 100 more damage with arrow hits.

I suspect it still works as blast rain functions in all ways like a projectile attack with a bow, all the modifiers apply and do something, your arrows still hit afterall
