Chin Sol + blast rain

The wiki is describing what the skill does visually. What it does in the code has nothing to do with its visuals, sadly. I guarantee Blast Rain does not interact with a third dimension and fire a physical projectile skyward that then turns around and splits before dropping. if it did, we'd only ever be able to use it outdoors.

Heh... it's a shame I can't find anything explicit in patch notes. Maybe someone else will find a definitive answer.

Now we're overthinking things. It's not just the wiki but the actual gem description in game.

Your first post was correct. Even though BR contains no projectiles, it still benefits from proj damage.

There is not a formula to calculate this, nor is there a specific "arrow drawn" animation on the character.

Using Blast Rain plays it's attack animation, which includes drawing an arrow. This animation takes the attack time of the skill to complete. At the point in that animation where the arrow is realeased (which may differ slightly between classes), the skill "goes off" and starts waiting for the explosions to fall. There's a 600ms delay before the first explosions falls (which is affected by modifiers to both attack speed and projectile speed), and the falling animation takes 270ms (cannot be modified).

Blast Rain

Projectile damage: Although Blast Rain does not fire projectiles (and therefore cannot benefit from projectile effects such as chaining and additional projectiles), like any bow skill it does deal projectile damage and will be affected by any appropriate damage modifiers (such as Physical Projectile Attack Damage Support).


All bow skills are projectile/arrow skills. A bow cannot deal damage that is not arrow damage, with the singular exception of Caustic Arrow releasing tentacle fart clouds, and even then Caustic Arrow's fart clouds are still allowed to scale with proj damage, and its initial shot is an arrow.

A bow Hit is an arrow Hit. If it wasn't, then nothing would make sense anymore and the world would spiral into endless chaos and collapse into a sea of fire.
