Having to purchase red maps, vaal & alch orbs
Is there a bug because the RNG can't be this bad. I am having to purchase about 90% of all my red maps and Vaal orbs. I have been playing for over 2 years and it has never been this bad. Often I run a map only to find next to nothing. I am not complaining, GGG is going to do what they wish (for whatever purpose) but I just wanted to know if this isn't some bug and if others are experiencing this as well?

I find it a bit more difficult as well, but rest assured that there will be - any minute now - a guy posting here that it was never as easy to get red maps as in bestiary.

Thanks, I'm glad it isn't just me. I will keep purchasing. I thought they had some new algorithm that helps drop maps that haven't been completed yet but I find that it isn't working too well.

Oh wow! I didn't know horizon existed! That will help some! Another note - where are the mobs? It makes me sad that there are so few monsters around!!

To builds map pool I did the following: full chisel then run zana mod (I go with bloodlines) and try for shaper/elder influence on every possible map I can. I also need 1 decent sextant and constant upkeep on prophecies (tedious). I stopped using vaal because unreliable and best case you get rippy map that defeats the purpose of grinding.
If you do those things you will GRADUALLY grow map pool. To do all of this on all your t12+ maps you need to sell stuff for chisels and chaos. If you are ssf you are probably going to struggle. I don't like the level of investment for mapping this league mostly because of how trade heavy it is. |

There is no bug relating to drop rates. Lots of other bugs that cause crashes, lag, and now something that I haven't had to deal with since the implementation of Lockstep sync code, rubber-banding. But drop rates have been deliberately reduced to try and push the netting meta. If that is not to your liking, and few if any players will embrace map and loot starvation, your only recourse is to play standard or take a break until the next league. Oh yes... you can QQ here, wait for GGG to respond, and listen to nothing but cricket chirping.

Map drop rates are not worse than previous leagues in itself. One issue is that this league has fuck all density compared to prior, and also the changes they made to "targeted" map drops are utter bull shit. I'm progressing more or less at the same pace as I was in prior leagues, but it is one of the reasons why every league since Atlas was introduced is 1 league closer to me leaving the game.
I actually miss Harbinger league every time I log into PoE now. I will never understand why they removed all those orbs because of game balance, then introduced stats sticks or shaped items and consider it "normal and balanced". |
