5L success rate?
Anecdotal evidence puts the chance of 5Ling a 6 socket at about 1%, and 6Ling it at about .1%.

Since I began playing I gained roughly 1.5 exalt worth of actual currency. 1x Exalt was a pure exalt drop i got within hours of starting to play PoE.
So 10+ chars later I finally have my Ranger to 50+ when I advanced enough to drop a 6 socket bow. I think "Nice bow its an upgrade I just need to 5 or 6 link it. Long story short.... 90 odd fusings and I hit a 5L. The bow isnt even that good when the cost is factored in. So a quick scour and alch gets me a nicer bow. I settled for that. It has put me off crafting a little. I know that amount is nothing to some people but it was everything I worked for in the game up until then. The Eternal Orb is a great idea but being a rare drop it will be almost exclusively used by rich people (poor people will sell their drops) who will spend currency trading out 6l items at cost against each other. I just hope it doesn't leave early game gamblers in a position to hoard currency, therefore not crafting, just in order to obtain 6l items without risking everything they worked for. | |
your better off to just save all your currency that you find till you get to the higher lvls of the game. then just buy the slot or links you want from some body else. there is no crafting in this game, its just dumb luck. the only downside to saving all your currency is that it will most likely take 1 or 2 stash tabs full of low lvl currencies to buy the 5 or 6 link chest/weapon with usable........not god like but just frickin usable stats. and even then you most likely wont be able to afford the item with 5 or 6 links unless you get insanely lucky with chaos and gpc and the oh so rare exalted orb drops.
honestly i dont know why they have so much R N FRICKING G! in the system they have. with all the differnt types of orbs and base white items. in theory you should be able to build your very own god like peice of gear for each slot. and that would be FUN AS HELL!! but in reality id speculate that you have better chances of winning the lottery in real life vs actually crafting your own gears with the stats links an sockets you want. now yes some people get lucky and beat the RNG. but sadly you wont know if your one of those people till you have spent every thing you have and still end up with nothing, or even worse with your character completely unusable. |

Plain luck. Used maybe ~50 fusings trying to 6-link my 2h weapon, yet in the last 1 week race got a 5-link on 1 fusing.

5L in my experience takes on average around 150 fuse, i've had it like 7 or 8 times.
I have used around 1000 fuse in my time playing and got a 6L on one of those but i think the chance of 6L is about 1500 fuse on average from what i read. |

Never once happened to me, it's a myth.

" According to GGG staff, it's less than 0.1 % for 6L. IGN TylordRampage

For those who want to link 5l bows PLEASE READ THIS. If the item in question is only 5 sockets and you are tyring to 5l it, you have a very low chance to 5l, it's pure luck. BEST thing to do and almost DOUBLE your chances is to make the item 6 socket and try to 5l it from there, the added socket significantly improves your odds! But of couse, this is if the item can support 6s! If not, then oh well!
