What should I (not) buy to play PoE?

I realized I'll likely never be able to run PoE on my current laptop without serious problems and screen-freezes, and it's becoming more and more literally unplayable with each patch, so I'm thinking about replacing it.

I'm looking for a cheap option and am going to use it exceptionally for PoE when it comes to gaming. I'm totally not tech-savvy and have no idea what to look for and even whether it's better to get laptop or PC (I've heard getting a PC may be cheaper, but also no mobility and I may have unrelated issues with speakers due to someone else's hobby).

Could you guys recommend me what I should consider and what to avoid? What's your specs, how much have you paid, what issues do you have with the game? I read people had issues with Radeon cards but not sure if it's a problem of the past or it's still common.

Because the game is pretty volatile due to unoptimazation the has improved since it's start, it is honestly hard to say. It feels like people with the exact same specs will have different experiences.

I upgraded from a duo core i5 480m 1gb laptop to ryzen 1700 and Rx 580 8gb and have zero issues but I made such a huge leap that you probably can't afford. My best guess would be to compare what you can find on YouTube and such people displaying how poe runs where they specify their setup and show how well it goes to see what you are willing to put up with versus the price of the parts. Probably on the higher end of things, I would suspect current i5 or ryzen 5 CPUs and equivelent priced gpus would be the best place to start unless you determine you need to stick to a laptop for mobility. Then most options are going to be Intel and Nvidia only anyway.

For example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GU58y2eJ0g

R3 1200 110 us
GTX 1050 ti ~150 us depending on model

Downside, what I watched of the video didn't show heavy particles like end game. But for what they did it was pretty much solid 60 fps with only slight fluctuations.

This is really generalized but I would assume based on the only minimum requirements GGG ever put out with no recommended, try to double the minimum if you can afford it, laptop or desktop. Like a 2.8 GHz processor and I would say nowadays it should be 4 core at minimum and hyper/multithreading probably a must (I don't even know if current game aimed stuff comes single threaded now...). 4+gb ram, and make the biggest jump from minimum with a gpu, I would assume 2gb at bare minimum if not more, the 1050 ti is pretty cheap for a 4gb, not that I have experience with it.

I'm pretty AMD biased but if you decide you want to go desktop route, especially building one yourself which would be cheapest and more satisfying, you can give me a pm. I'm not a pro but I could probably help point out things when deciding on computer or part options.

Oh you mean hardware... anything with an apple
I use an i5 3470 with a geforce 660 and with default settings at high, the game is very smooth to play. It occasionally jitters at home base in Act 1 but that's probably the lag.
I get away with this computer as I don't have a hd display. In fact its a 19 inch 1280 x 1024 display. The Witcher 3 is playable on high detail too ;-)

Go to bazaar and tell them you want machine for playing games.

They will ask how much money you have, and after that you will get best you can get from trader.

Works like charm.

ps: I am playing on 144hz monitor and if Helix mods provide mods for 3D Vision, I go for it.. After you tell how much money you have and what type of games (genre you playing), we can figure out something for you

What I run myself? I7 7700K / SSD / 16GB RAM / RX 580. Works well, but is probably more expensive than what you want to pay.

What I would recommend to buy? Some cheaper CPU (i3/i5 or Ryzen 3/5) + Geforce GTX 1050Ti or so, depends a bit on budget. Definitely get an SSD. Get a used fullHD screen from somewhere, that should be cheap to pick up. I don't think you need more than 8GB of RAM and I've heard that the game runs better with Nvidia cards.
Remove Horticrafting station storage limit.
Thanks for responses guys. Good idea with YouTube, will check it out.
Don't go cheap. Save up for a computer. Much smarter to buy quality later than to continue buying crap and have to re-buy year after year.

This. Future-proof your machine and you'll spend less in the long run.
