What do you guys think. Can POE make a comeback wtih CoC discharge going unchanged?

Will the fat wallet supporters be able to sustain us in our time of need?

So you took out todays stats on steam client, day and a half before new league starts? Seems legit.

I will wait day and half and then look at those numbers at steam, and not during the middle of work day before patch.

Unnecessarily large meme graphic aside, I don't think the comparison is relevant. One is a simultaneous player count, the other is total copies sold. Steam statistics doesn't even show all PoE players since some (me included) play on the standalone client. Also I wonder which day of the week the statistics are for? Weekends probably see more players than weekdays.

Furthermore, the target audience for the two games is very different. Diablo 3 is very casual these days and appeals to a wide audience. PoE has been designed by and for hardcore games from the word go.

As an example of the difference, I played Diablo 3 in its latest season with a friend. Within two weeks I had two characters decked out in legendary gear and had reached my limit in greater rift progress, so I shelved the game again. On the other hand, I've played PoE since Ascension hit and there's no sign of me getting bored of it. Prophecy sounds fun and the builds are much more varied than in Diablo 3.

Not all POE is on Steam either.

As an added extra to the other statements in this thread, I believe Blizzard is double dipping on those sales figures, they include both the base game and expansion, so the actual total of potential players is far less than that top line figure would indicate.

They are double dipping. It could be as few as 15 million people who bought both D3 and RoS. They also don't say how many were on a console platform, which would be interesting. Especially since often the rankings are lists of "pc games".
