Resists - How much do you want/need to be overcapped?
So, I know people like to be overcapped, and I'm at the point where I need to decide if I want to upgrade other things and not run -resist mods, or, keep the overcapped resists.
Just wondering how much exactly people usually overcap by, so I can figure out what to do. Dernier bump le 14 mai 2016 à 22:46:20

Maps with curses always apply as a level 15 curse.
Level 15 EW = 34% reduced elemental resists, so you'll need 109% all res in merc or 169% in normal (hideout) to be resist capped in EW maps. Depending on your build you could also swap an aura for purity of elements on EW maps. I've done that on a few of my builds where overcapping wasn't really practical to gear for. IGN: Smegmazoid

Oh, well, static amounts certainly makes it easier.
34% extra is a lot, I'll be overcapped (Or very close) with my current gloves, but, not if I want to upgrade to something else... This is for my Whispering Ice build, so I'm already running Purity of Elements. I might just have to avoid EW maps then, if upgrading my gloves becomes practical anyway. Not sure I have the Mana for Voidbringer, and Acuity is a long long way off. Thanks for the quick answer though! |

heres a related question:
Act and map bosses themselves are generally overcapped most of the time, I use penetrate so I'm not really vunerable to overcaps but I'm still curious about how much an elemental curse would help? do boss overcaps range from 75% to 100% or way higher than that? 100% to 150% ? penetrate would outpreform basically any curse attempting to reduce resistance on any boss overcapped more than 100% or so. then theres dual cursing. |

You should never be overcapped at all because youre wasting stats that could have gone towards life dps or ms. Throw on an item swap for ele weak maps.

Hey there,
If you happen to have good stats on gear that you need, and you're overcapped, that's fine. No point removing a piece of gear that gives you a nice life boost or damage you need just because it causes you to severely overcap, as long as you have the other resistances you need. I think what Nephalim intended was this - If you're searching for gear to intentionally overcap yourself, and skipping out on other useful stats, it's not worth it because other methods exist to deal with maps that have "elemental weakness" curse. (thankfully Necros can't double curse you with the same curse) " What JahIthBer89 said is partially correct. the level of the curse is related to the map tier. Only higher tier maps have a level 15 curse. Here's source on that - http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Elemental_Weakness " GGG recently gave us a great way to deal with the elemental weakness curse on maps - http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Bismuth_Flask and for those maps where monsters have added physical damage you can use: http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Basalt_Flask And, I believe someone mentioned this already, you can always swap out an aura gem for the purity of elements gem if you don't want to use the Bismuth Flask. " Act and map bosses rarely even hit the cap in the first place. Datamining results popped up values around 35% Ele, 20% Chaos - stuff in that vicinity. Dernière édition par Vipermagi#0984, le 13 mai 2016 à 13:33:43

" bosses have high resistance vs curses also. |

" Guess some of us would have second opinion on this one... Elemental weakness is one of the most common map mods out there and some of us overcap just for that. |

" Resists are suffixes while life and ms are prefixes, doesnt matter. Only matters for crit builds or those who want ias/fcr on jewellry. -------------- Just to show some WI ignorance here, but Zephryl, why are you using cold to fire and fire pen? Is it just to limit reflect deaths? Considering there are far better options for dps, right? ^^ You just wasted 3 seconds reading this. Dernière édition par Tian_Yihao#4319, le 14 mai 2016 à 14:32:20
