Elementalist sucks. Never pick over assassin.

Elementalist sucks big time. There is nothing it has really worth taking. You never ever want to not pick assassin for a damage caster.

There is no pure damage caster ascendancy skill line. No pure caster blaster in game. Occultist also sucks, but at least it has some interesting and somewhat powerful talents, but it is also around kill on effect things which is never a good idea to build around unless you want a weakling build... a pure caster must be able to handle all content.

Same brain failure as with marauder(until recent boost), no longer was marauder the melee reasonable class, and now witch is not the damage caster class anymore that will be shadow.

I also fear you will not be able to salvage the situation while u have assassin as retarded OP with that high a base crit chance increase.. nerf that, it fucks all damage caster witch builds up as you can easily build 95% caster crit builds with that shit. Deadly infusion is by far the most overpowered node i have ever seen in poe.

For example that 100% increased damage sometimes? nearly worthless, could be 100% more. Only really good thing is elemental conflux for shock.. but even that... not really on assassin level and again why u do this on kill thing making it useless for really serious builds that want to do things like atziri. Not that atziri could be shocked anyway, but just that on kill sucks vs special fights.

Honestly every ascendancy sucks compared to assassin. I allready visualize 95% crit chance builds like Voltaxic/flameblast+consumming dark with no reflect problems On top of that every weapon with low base crit any spell can get to 95% crit chance. Lets not forget about cast on crit builds...


They should reduce that to .25% base crit per power charge or add a drawback effect like xx% chance to get critical hitted or something or even both

Jokes aside, Occultist is super strong. If CI wasn't already immortal enough, it just got a huge buff. Free power charge on crit and +1 power charge is fantastic as well. +1 curse is also insane. Occultist is probably the best designed class in the game, and is also the most rounded.

That being said, elementalist is a bit meh. The buff to the primordial node is great and all, but the other "on kill" effects are pretty mediocre. At least Occultist has other buffs besides the on-kill ones. Yes assassin outclasses everything in terms of damage, but that appears to be what GGG wanted to do with it.

Personally I'd like to see the rest of the changes being made to the game before I cast judgement on the classes as a whole. Yes, some of them are obviously off-base and weak, but there could be changes to the game that make classes other than assassin more appealing. Honestly, we know very, very little about Ascendancy. I'm reluctant to call for nerfs or buffs unless something is very clearly garbage (like the primordial node in elementalist used to be).

That's just my 2 cents about it.

Shaper of Desolation is strait-up bonkers. As in, so strong, when you read Arcane Conflux your brain interprets it other than written, because your brain is all like "no, it couldn't do that, that'd be insane."

Except it does do that. All Damage from Hits. All of it.

Kind of like how many people think Ambush provides increased Critical Strike Chance. It doesn't.

However, outside of that one notable, Elementalist is very meh. As in, 99+% of Elementalists go SoD, nothing else really matters. Hell, Bladefall Elementalist works just fine, no conversion required... which feels very wrong to me.

Go play it, then post evaluations.

Clearly showed that you only look for damage. That doesn't mean that Elementalist is good but with your closed mind... nevermind, go ahead.

Well perma-chilling is also nice.
And ignite... at least it prevents energy shields from charging.^^

Unless you decide to use Hypothermia in your link. That ought to work, right?

And frankly, I've got a hard time thinking of why somebody making an Elementalist build wouldn't consider using Hypothermia. 20-39% MORE damage to chilled enemies and 10% chance to freeze chilled surely deserves consideration for a 5th or 6th link if you've got Shaper of Desolation for Arcane Conflux.

For rapid-casting fire, cold, or lightning spells, it looks like a quite valuable option against everything but solo bosses where nobody is around to kill to activate Arcane Conflux.

I don't think it would make ALL your damage Freeze, so I think it would be more of a Cold Damage thing. Which means you'd probably use Hypothermia anyway.

But with free Shock you'd Chill and Freeze bigger things.
