Damage "more" Multipliers and their Interactions
now the question:
are there enemies who take less than 50% more dmg from being shocked? ign: fanimala

Of course, though 'different' may suit it better than 'less'. There are certain enemies with reductions to damage taken or they may be cursed with vulnerability (that one is), in both cases the amount of extra damage Shock provides will be different.
So, if an enemy has '50% reduced damage taken' and it gets shocked it will take double damage compared to normal instead of 50% more. If you shock an enemy cursed with 30% vulnerability it will take 38% more damage instead of 50% more. It does matter, though mostly on our side, right. so overall Shock will act as a more Multiplier for players but is an increased multiplier on enemies which will interact with their specific "defense" in an additive/reduced way

Something like that, for us a shocked enemy usually means it will take 50% more damage because he isn't likely to have something that can stack with it.
However, when a monster shocks a player it can pretty much expect the damage boost not to be 50%. Kinda interesting, a fortify user will take 62% more damage from being shocked but an abyssus aficionado will take just 35% more, it will also stack with Oro, Hyaon, Fragile bloom... Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

This needs an explanation:
Fortify: 20% reduced damage taken (from hits) Abyssus: 40% increased damage taken while shocked (pure phys dmg only): Fortify: (-20%) +50% dmg taken -> 30% dmg taken Abyssus: +40% + 50% dmg taken -> 90% dmg taken ign: fanimala

well its looking at the increase given by shock, so the abyssus build is already taking 50% extra damage and the fortify build taking 20% reduced before you calculate how much extra the shock is adding to those. If you already have a lot of increased damage taken then getting more is less significant as a % of the damage you take. Same way 10% increased damage on a build that has 0 is essentially 10% more damage, but if you already have 1000% increased adding another 10% is not going to raise your dps by 10%. 10% is effectively worth more to the build with 0, but that doesnt mean that build does more damage if they both spec it, it just had a bigger relative increase from it.

I am sorry but I did not understand this. I was talking about taking damage not about the increase of my own DPS. As far as I know Increased/ Reduced Modifiers of Damage Taken are calculated after mitigation via Resistances / Armor / ... . They will interact additively with each other: Shock +50% Abyssus +40% (perfect roll) = 90% increased damage taken from physical damage ign: fanimala

" this is correct yes, 40% + 50% = 90% increased damage taken. When you say "This needs an explanation:" do you mean in relation to what Raics just said about a fortify user taking more damage from the shock than an abyssus user? I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

" Yes @ Snorkle_uk Where do These numbers (62%,35%) come from? ign: fanimala

He was just pointing out the fact that when wearing abyssus, you already take a lot more damage, so in proportion, beeing shocked is less significant! While for fortify it’s the opposite.
Of course that doesn’t mean that a shocked abyssus will take 35% more damage, and a shocked fortified non abyssus 62%, compared to an unfortified non shocked non abyssus. As you said it’s 90% and 30%, respectively. |
