Critical Chance Damage Multpyer
" Clarification time! Say my Witch has 600% critical damage (it's actually higher) and I crit a Marauder with 40% critical damage reduction. Does my critical damage get reduced from 600% to 360%? Say the Marauder really hates Witches and now has 90% critical damage reduction. Does the damage get reduced from 600% to 60%, but then is beefed up to do 100% damage? I assume it will, and my critical hits will be the same as my normal hits. Critical strike chance reduction! Suppose I have a 56% critical strike chance on my Ice Spear, which has a base critical strike chance (henceforth referred to as CSC) of 8%. I hit the Marauder, who has 60% CSC reduction. Does the chance get reduced from 56% to 33.6%? Now again suppose he's really annoyed at me again (and who wouldn't be) and spends a whole lot of unannounced currency items to refund passive skills to the tune of 90% CSC reduction. Does my 56% CSC get reduced to 5.6%, but is then beefed up to the normal rate of 8%? IRON MAN

"If you have 600% Critical Strike Damage Multiplier, and the enemy has 40% reduced enemy critical strike damage multiplier, then under the new system the 40% reduction will apply only to the part which is above 100%. In this case, that's 500, of which 40% is 200. So you'll have an effective critical strike damage multiplier of 400%. In the second case, it will be reduced by 90% leaving a critical strike multiplier of 150% (90% of 500 is a reduction of 450). You can think of this as temporarily removing 100% of the multiplier (the part which is regular damage), applying the reduction, then adding the 100% back in afterwards. only the part of the multiplier which is in excess of 100% is subject to reduction. "There's no such thing as critical strike chance reduction. The only way the enemy's stats can affect your critical strike chance is if they are under the effects of critical weakness, which is a straight addition to whatever your final critical strike chance worked out as. Question - Critical Weakness's increased critical damage multiplier, how exactly does it apply? Identically to every other source of increased critical damage or a special rule like the curse's chance?

"It's the same stat as critical strike damage reduction, but it gets a negative value. That means once this change is in the increase will only apply to the part of the multiplier which is above 100%, just like the reduction does.
So it's a nerf to the curse for low crit damage builds and a buff for high crit damage builds. Specifically, it's abuff to anyone who achieved a curseless crit damage multiplier of 250%+ (i.e. +66% critical damage from passives or gear).
Am I correct? Dernière édition par konfeta#2391, le 11 déc. 2011 à 23:06:07

![]() Wonderful! Thank you Mark. Critical strike chance reduction sounds like something that was in the game. I could've sworn it was... oh well! IRON MAN

Considering that this change will make those nodes almost completely worthless in pve (since monsters have only a 130% crit damage multiplier, we'll only be reducing that 30% part...) and only useful in pvp, would it be possible to rearrange those parts of the tree to put these nodes on branches and not blocking any paths? Namely just connect the 8% armor node to the 4% life nod, rather than having to go through the 15% crit damage reduction node, and swap the "10% crit damage reduction per endurance charge" node with the "+1 maximum endurance charge" node.

"I don't see how that's a buff in any way. The curse is now applying a percentage modifier to a lower number (since 100 is unaffected) that will always result in less change, regardless of the original value.
You don't see because your UI is unclear and mean to players.
Also, the real reason is because I haven't actually closely read the description of the Critical Weankess curse. sadface |
