Iraq after Hussein - divided in fractions, ISIL, radical Islam
Libya after Gaddafi - heavily divided in fractions, in practice state doesn't exist, radical Islam
Syria (still not after) Assad - country in ruins, endangered by radical Islam, still holding on

All of these countries were secular states with satisfying standard of living, education and medical care. Take a look at them now.

No doubt above mentioned leaders were the best option available. They were long term dictators for a reason.
