PoE Not using correct graphics card.
" Okay, So let's assume PoE is not crashing my laptop because of GPU issues here's my exact problem. 1.)Join Merciless Ledge group 2.)2-3 runs are fine even with those weird discharge, spectral throw, and totem teleporters. 3.)I hear some sorta weird noise from my headphones and soon after the game freezes with sound looping. 4.)After the looping stops after 10-20 seconds I can still move the PoE cursor around but it's impossible to close the client out requiring a hard reset. Can you alt-tab out or does the PC respond at all other than the mouse cursor?

Nope, I tried pushing alt+tab, ctrl+shift+escape, ctrl+alt+del, and alt+f4 but neither of those combinations work. After the sound looping ends the hardware cursor will popup which I can move around but PoE is still frozen on my screen.

" Sounds like a general PC overheating issue... very common with laptops |

Well I downloaded "RealTem" and the program is saying that my average CPU temp is 48c idle. While playing PoE it's around 70c~80c is this dangerous? I don't have this freezing issue with other games so I may just go back to playing PS2 or NWNO.
EDIT: Also I monitor FPS in PoE with F1 and my max fps 125-143fps in town and is 60-80fps around melee, summoner, and any non discharge, lighting spammer player if I go anywhere near a lightning spammer it goes to 15-30fps. Dernière édition par Dreugh88#3755, le 19 nov. 2013 à 19:52:41

Well, I'm going to test this because NWNO and PS2 both report same cpu temperature yet I have never once crashed playing those. I'm leaning towards PoE having problems with soundcards there's already a thread about some causing BSOD which I had problems with earlier.

" The soundcard issues are related to Creative dedicated cards. Also, 70C-80C is dangerous for most CPUs. It depends on the CPU and you'd have to check your ratings for your CPU... but that is extremely hot for most CPUs. |

Yes it does seem "dangerous" the T rating for my processor is 100c which means im safely playing PoE and other games in a safe range. I did further testing at 100% usage and no matter what im doing tried NWN+PoE+PS2 max temp was 85c. My processor states at 110c the computer shuts off but this isn't whats happening.

Ok, well after further testing running 3dMark Pro 11 and crippling my PC on purpose(max everything), was getting 0fps(freezes lol)-4fps 100% gpu and cpu load and my laptop NEVER crashed.
I think PoE is still in beta and it was working fine before last weeks patch so i'll just wait for the 26th. Dernière édition par Dreugh88#3755, le 19 nov. 2013 à 21:26:37

Well, I solved my problem I'm using the --nosound switch and I played ledge for about two hours ,pretty sure my entire party was lightning and it was a lagfest but never crashed. So I'm thinking either the sounds from the items are crashing me or the sounds of mobs dying who knows?
