Any way to run from a thumb drive?

Dear developers: Please, please let us be able to run this from a portable drive without relying on or saving to local resources

i agree with no registry use for the game, the game should be fully portable by just copy pasting the install folder, all files and everything should be in there. i know this is a far off comparison, but blizzard always did it that way and it was awesome.

The standard place to store Windows application settings is the registry. When used properly, the registry has considerable advantages over the antiquated .ini file system.
Most important, the registry allows user-specific settings. If more than one family member is sharing an installation of Path of Exile, the game can remember their logins and settings separately if they're using different Windows accounts. It's also somewhat more efficient to use the registry, leading to faster loading times and a smaller codebase. It's unfortunate for players who are trying to use work resources for gaming, but that's hardly a compelling reason against using the Windows registry. I think the argument is really more for "plug and play" capabilities than just being able to use work resources.
