Hyper Inflation. I can sum it up in two words for you. If you are ssf, then you are fine, otherwise lol. I also did it in a sentence for you. Take your pick.

im not sure you know what inflation is if you think this is hyper inflation

let me break it down for you a bit. inflation is what happens naturally over the course of the time period of a league. the longer the league goes on, the more and more loot it generates out of nowhere, and everything inflates over time

when one currency raises or drops in price, that is not inflation. divines crashing in value is not inflation, its deflation

everyone started out screaming "inflation inflation" after Fubguns video claiming 100d an hour for a temple run was released, let me check, 6 days ago.
people were saying divines are getting too expensive and they'll never be able to catch up with normal farming strats.
fast forward a few days and now divines have crashed in value, and people are still screaming "inflation inflation"

people just like to complain. it doesn't matter what is happening or its effect. divines are expensive they complain. divines are cheap they complain.
everyone is fine, as long as you just keep playing. buying into the emotion-fueled rage rhetoric will cripple you though.

right now the market is a little volatile, going up and down in big spurts pretty quickly, so i'd say its best not to do anything, but i'll hit an equalibrium it always does.
at that point it won't matter if divs are expensive or cheap, its all relative because divines are the purchasing power. if they're cheap, it takes more divines to buy something but they're easier to get. if divines are expensive it takes less divines to buy something but they're harder to get. its the same damn thing in ratio.
Heh they finally hotfixed it, at least partially. Next step in junior gamedesigner apprenticeship here is to do it ON TIME. Not after 2 weeks (at the very least) of community splitting, raging, and economy spiraling into oblivion.

Liked the part about "these temples were causing drastic server performance problems". If this is true, why did they wait 2 weeks knowing they cannot keep it up until end of league anyway? If this is false (meaning exaggerated), well, by now even lie cannot save them from massive outrage. Either one or the other half of community would've been massively displeased after hotfix.

Guess its better late than never.

Bud, it is you who doesn't understand hyper inflation. Lets take a look at post WW2 Germany and current day Venezuela. The problem is they had is their currency is worthless compared to the goods they were trying to buy. As more currency got printed (see divines) the goods they were using it to purchased cost more currency due to the inflation of currency in circulation.

Now lets apply this to current day exploit temple. Fubgun was making 150+ divines per temple run (printing currency). This makes it so any crafted item, or in demand item, such as rakiata flow, sky rockets in price, just like the goods in Venezuela or post WW2 Germany. Due to the hyper inflation of currency available, the goods subsequently went up in cost for those places. Those same goods did not go up in value other places, which is what it is called inflation for the current league.

I am not sure why you are not understanding basic economy 101 concepts, but there is your ELI5.

Actually it was inflation, mostly because divines were being printed and anything beside divines was picked up...

It's all because they abused the temple rarity/party farming and the medalion that ensured the temple won't collapse. Both of them were nerfed so now people are crying. Also divines have dropped in price from 400 to 270 last time I checked ...

I told everyone you can see the damage from BiS item prices. A 150% adorned is 10 mirrors boys.

To fix the season they need to increase item drop rate on such BiS items or literally only exploiters will have them. Because exploiters control the buying market on them rn.

To fix the season they either need a complete reset, or to ban everyone who abused the temple. It will be very easy to see who did it, they track all of that stuff. Just temp ban everyone who did it, wipe their account and let them come back next league. If they do it again, just ban their account permanently.

Why would they ban someone for using the mechanic they themselves implemented. It wasn't an exploit, it was use of the mechanic that GGG brokenly provided.

Now GGG fixed it, but they fixed it too late and the economy suffered. Why would someone get banned over that.

People just look at whatever end game item and cry it's 2000 mirrors, why would you need that item in the first place ? I cleared the whole game including uber arbiter without a single more than 3 div item... Most of them were farmed and crafted by me :/...So why would you care about over inflation.

Hi Im smart
I slept at a Holiday Inn last night.

The damage to the market is being done by GGG

Consider the base currency to be time.
All things are priced by time, but as we cant use it as currency
use divines.

Divines can drop 1 per day one per hour one per century
The important part is consistency and availability.

The temple is available
The temple is consistent (was)

So the market will price that in and all items will be adjusted to reflect
the true but hidden currency of time .

If in league A there was no temple and 1 div per hour , the Sword of a Thousand Truths costs 1 div.

League B there is a temple and 1000 divs per hour are possible.
The Sword of a Thousand Truths costs 1000 divs.

There is no issue at all here except the market force of supply and demand.
The supply is available to those putting in the time , so the system is fair.

When GGG alters that balance , that is when people lose out , that is when balance snaps back and forth , some win , most lose.

The only losers of the temple were those not playing it.
And as that is the league mechanic chose their fate , which is also fair.
It was accessible to all and there were guides showing all how to participate equally.

So then tell me , who was losing?
Why were they complaining ?
answer that.

Im on SSF , you know what I did?
I rerolled a bunch of gear!
Best League Ever!(poe 2)

Then you realize that those BiS items are rare by design, and most people will be locked out of those, with or without temple.
You can argue temple is problematic, but don't use the BiS items as an argument for that. That's just an excuse.

The "I can't buy" conclusion will be the same for a casual all the time. Supply and demand is locking you out, not inflation, not fubgun, not temple.
