Gz Havoc6 on first level 100

To test your theory, I will hack GGG's servers, make a copy of HvR's character, then give the game to my non gamer girlfriend. As it requires no skill, she can totally kill 6 player HP Piety.

Or maybe you are just totally wrong.

Strawman argument.

To say that games like Diablo/Path of Exile require skill is laughable. The learning curve for ARPGs tapers off very early on. You learn how the currency/gear/skill systems work, how monsters behave, and from there on out, it's pretty much mindless button mashing. Progress in the mid-late game is nearly completely dependent on RNG (drops) and how much free time you can spend spamming the same spells, at the same monsters, in the same dungeons, to slowly progress up the 'exp ladder'.

Compare that with climbing up the Starcraft II ladder or DotA 2 5v5 ladder, and you'll see why ARPGs can be played with little to no brain effort. In RTS games, you're constantly learning new strategies, honing your multi-tasking skills, and playing mind-games on your opponents. Your progress is dependent on how well you can consistently outplay human opponents. You can be top seed, and if just for one day you're not at the top of your game, and you go on a losing streak, you can drop multiple ranks just like that. Talented players, regardless of how little or much time they spent playing, can rise up the ladder based on how well they can defeat less-talented players.

TL;DR version:
1) ARPGs: Ladder positions are heavily dependent on time spent staring at the monitor.
2) RTS games: Ladder positions change constantly. Talented players rise to the top much faster.

I think he meant 27.
No. Calm down. Learn to enjoy losing.
Gz Havoc6, I was wondering when someone would hit 100 :P

99% of deaths in this game stem from momentarily not paying attention. The ability to pay close attention for very long periods, is, frankly, a skill. It's the defining skill you need to play HC, or get to 100 in default (because dying sets you back so far).

i dont know about you but after my 4th exile the only reason i die is due to lag/freeze/desync
and i have it a lot esp when i enter a new area and right of the bat have like 3 different rare mobs with all different mods on em my game has extraordinary amounts of trouble loading that due to me having to play it on a mac and that comes with its own set of setbacks on top of all the setbacks

its like yow dawg i heard you liked setbacks so here is a setback in that setback.

and i live in kodiak at the end of the globe where no one ever comes im like the only one to play this game in a 50 mile radius (internet sucks here)

but no complaining here love the game

and to all the cynical people plz give the guy a break after playing that many hours and that much support from his friend base (i dont have friends that dedicated) i say boo shame on you for ruining the experience.
Gratz Havoc, a great achievement given the time frame.

74 day on /played... insane

the things that can be done when you have no life are amazing

Next goals:
lv100 @ Path of getting a girlfriend
lv100 @ Path of getting a job

Don't wanna hate here, but the /played really indicates serious problems...

Having a girlfriend is overrated, by the way, divorce rates are 51% and 75% of the filings are done by women, why would you sign up for that should it ever escalate beyond just girlfriend? He wouldn't be able to do what he likes to do, which is obviously play PoE.

I'm curious... Why are we congratulating this? In order to reach level 100 in this game, you need:
- A decent build
- An incredible amount of free time
- Luck

...Notice how "skill" is nowhere on that list...

You need dedication and discipline. A lot. 4 months and 18 days pure playtime per month - try it. Few people would be able to go through this. That's why havoc6 has much more exp than even the second place.

no he wasn't. read his thread.
he describes every death in detail, and he had 43 of those.
which doesn't diminish his awesome and incredible achievement even one bit.
he's the best. he won at Path Of Exile, pure and simple.

the man you speak of dying in HC right into the top of the Default Ladder is Kerkrom, at level 96, not 97.
Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat
Shadow: That was fun
