Leagues should be "Events" and Standard should be the focus for building characters
Leagues provide existing players with a fresh start for the economy as well as incentivizing players to try something new. Not only that, but they provide developers a chance to test new ideas for the game without affecting the core gameplay (if the league mechanics are not well received, or break the game, the core game is left intact). It also acts as a stash multipier, as all your league tabs are not deleted, moving to your standard stash as remove only tabs. Your stash becomes a treasure trove of items, currency, and the history of your experience with the game.
You can continue to play standard, and all balance changes for the league will still be there in standard, just not new league mechanics. You literally get everything except the thing you are opting out of playing. |

" So whats the problem? OP items? When everything is OP, nothing is. End game is typically a mix of super hard bosses and PVP. For this to work, theyd need to flesh out a very good PVP end game for standard. This isn't something they could fix in a day. If items are OP - then allow them in PVE, but restrict them in PvP. One idea would be to allocate a point based system to each item based on community feedback, and limit the amount of 'points' per build. Like you have 50 points - An OP item could be worth 40 - restricting the rest of your items to be worth 1. Many creative ideas make this a possibility. Currently, leagues just make people bored. You can see this in player retention, and its ALWAYS been like that since POE1 |

Why would someone that plays Leagues over Standard care about player power in Standard?
Anything that would' break' the Core Game can also be remedied, just how they do at the end of a league before moving onto the next one. Concurrent release actually helps in this regard by giving the developers more tools for earlier detection. Dernière édition par LeFlesh#9979, le 22 août 2025 à 13:31:47

" You are incorrectly presuming why players refuse Leagues. It isn't because they don't want to play new content. The vast majority are turned off by the idea of starting over. It is possible to implement the new content with current characters AND with leagues concurrently. 0.2 is proof. Continuing this model is what's requested. |

" because if i had a chance to 'check out' the content with my OP/broken build i would prob do it. the incentives would be massive to do this EVEN if you cared about fresh eco/trading which i don't. this thread is speaking not only about allowing broken builds to rofl through new content but to embrace it hence my comment about this subject getting worse and worse. and yeah Standard can be balanced by removing concept of legacy items completely. forums would certainly get entertaining after that change |

" Not true, you are simply magnifying the problem. If something is wrong in a contained environment, it is easier to remove than if allowed to run rampant in an unconstrained environment. I dont see an issue here, it has been one of the most beloved features of Poe since its inception. Why ruin a good thing? Simply because you dont feel like starting over? You can just play standard, wheres the problem? |

The entire game is a contained, logged environment. Nothing is outside of GGG's control.
The problem is that Standard users have to wait months for the novel content updates when they could be (and have been!) released concurrently. Dernière édition par LeFlesh#9979, le 22 août 2025 à 13:48:56

" So try the league then. Problem solved. |

" not even wait, you will never get the same content. you will get 'balanced' tuned down content that is ready for additional layers of future content. |

" I proposed a 2 week delay earlier ITT as a compromise. That would address any of those perceived issues. As for 'balancing' for Standard, which is not my goal, if the devs leave a Legacy item in Standard then that means it isn't a problem. True issues (Temporalis letting players Blink with every server tick) get patched ASAP. Concurrent release would improve GGG's ability to detect such heinous issues, before they ever became a problem in League. Dernière édition par LeFlesh#9979, le 22 août 2025 à 13:55:17
