I'm pretty sure the coding bug here is not why the servers are down. Patch rollback most likely took 15 minutes at most. But since people lost items due to the patch, they are probably blocking client connections so they can investigate which players lost 1 or more gems, which ones those were etc so they can then re-insert them in the database, which will be time-consuming.
I wouldnt count on the servers being reachable again before they're sure it's all back to the pre-patch state.

Could be wrong though :p

Damn, the server just crashed and now we have theories about aliens and other nonsense and of course everyone who paid $15 knows better than anyone what needs to be done now to make everything work
