The Slow Removal of Consequences in PoE2

The worst thing about PoE1 was that it was either HC (lol) or a "6 portal are my defenses" clown fiesta that actively rewarded players who die hundreds, often thousands of times over a character's lifespan, so they can just go as fast as possible 100% of the time and not give a damn about anything else. PoE2 is quickly devolving into the exact same slop, and if this slippery slope towards mimicking PoE1's most serious core failures continues, I don't really see what the point of making PoE2 a fully separate game was.

Its not devolving into that. it was launched as that. Temporalis, grim feast, archmage, and howa were in the game day 1.

these items existing had nothing to do with shit players.
Good. If the vision isn't fun, people won't play it.
YEP super responsive combat 3.5s of cast time on slams xd?

learning why you died

a combat log would be nice then..

You are the only poster i have seen who has mentioned how boss fights are now basically risk free so kudos to you

I hear what you are saying but if the game is to appeal to a wider audience then some things need to change.

and there is always hardcore for those that want the ultimate challenge

not saying accessibility for more folks is bad in general, but i feel like in this very case, that's likely the reason this game is in this horrible state it currently is in. appealing wasd/controller and m+kb at once, yet not actually giving these 2 entirely different playstyle 2 entirely different working targeting systems, let alone don't have pc-players be punished for consoleros low skill-ceiling due to using a controller...yea

the target system is garbage that needs desperate fixing, and i'd argue a guess this stems precisely from that. they originally did not plan on using anything other than m+kb, and then they had to make changes, and more changes, and instead of making 2 seperate systems at once, they tried to take the shortcut and appeal everyone with the same garbage that won't work for either sides.

edit for clarification:
yes i do toss both WASD and controller into one "playstyle" because well, it kinda fits the bill. nonetheless i do want to emphasize the point, so using a controller automatically is a huge hinderence in a game where you might wanna target some folks that are behind other enemies, to name just one example out of many. so technically, they have to cater to 3 different playstyles, since again, with WASD i still can summon a firestorm at the backrow as an example..i wanna see anyone doing that with a controller in the same timeframe. not going to happen with the same degree of accuracy and speed.

also: after reading some other comments about how batshit horrible the targeting system is on controller (you wanna hit the guy on the right side but the game priorized the other guy on the left for what ever reason --> and seeing the exact same crap happen with m+kb aka, getting screwed over by "smart algorithm overriding your chosen target to a different one, and getting you killed for no reason"), i'm quite sure that's "intended mechanic" ment to cater to newbirds. and it sucks. it's garbage. it punishes everyone who didn't start gaming today and is utter clueless. and this game clearly is not ment for such folks that rarely have time to play a game. so why even catering to them (other than the obvious reason being corporate greed)
-fix atrocious targeting system ("smart algorithm" changing your target is horrible)
-fix skills that lack any inherent movement built into to actually NOT MOVE YOU when using "Attack Without Moving". <- skills like Ice Strike MUST NOT move you if out of range with "attack without moving" command!

Absolutely agree and perfectly said!

The game is becoming trivial autopilot project.

Difficulty being reduced to the ground and this is becoming a cookie clicker.
Please bring back day 1 experience of PoE 2.

Slow, methodical, challenging.
That's the fun, I feel engaged in this game, I have to pay attention and I feel great when I overcome challenges.
