Ridiculous Experience penalty in POE2

Hi

Using all experience-related tablets, I got lv98 by killing 1564333 monsters for 23 days 4 hours, deaths 22 times.

And I FOUND I need 4 hours for 1% experience in lv98, how wonderful.

Welcome to the club.
This is absurd. So it means 400h for level 98-99. When you need to put the equivalent of 10 weeks of full time work for a level there's something wrong.
Losing 10% (or more) on death is the real killer. You can play for 4 or 5 hours and then die once and you lose more xp than what you earned in those 4 or 5 hours. It's downright horrible and a detriment to playing. For me that loss of xp keeps me from trying any of the endgame bosses before I reach 100. So it altersyour play significantly. That is bad for the game imo.
Buh it macks our gayme so kewl guise. Wai ar yeu med yeu haf to grind tha gayme lik it pays ur billz to git rewarded?

Yeah, I don't even understand this reasoning that those people have. Diablo 3 came with the paragon system, and even though it sucked at first they improved it and showed how you can have "infinite" (I think ONE guy reached the limit) progression if you can get some basic math right. But then they un-learned the lesson with Diablo 4 and made it suck, and the developers of PoE2 game didn't pick up on it either. Imagine how awesome it could have been, getting paragon levels that give you more points to allocate on the grid or whatever...

As a result you now have the people thinking that ridiculous punishments for things that are to "to be expected" (according to the developers) are necessary because they fail to see the reality that sensible endgame progression would be possible, and jarringly, the developers suffer from the same confusion.

I think it might have to do with this obsession of ladders/season/whatchamacallit going around in this genre. Because why have any long-term character progression in a game made around long-term character progression when you have a "season" system that expects you to start over and over again (because Fortnite also has "seasons" and the modus operandi in Western game development seems to be to copy whatever progression/monetization model is hot right now to shut up the shareholders with zero regard to whatever even makes sense to the genre in question). But that's a major disrespect of anyone's time, and it was fine 20 years ago when most gamers were kids and had nothing else to do than starting the same game over and over again. But times have changed, nobody got 10000 hours to spare to start over and over again, which is why games built around this concept (like Diablo 4 or PoE2) are collapsing.

Honestly, I don't even think that our forum trolls are even good players. They are constantly patrolling the forums insulting people complaining about XP loss and saying that they don't "deserve" to be level 95+ because they are bad players. But I don't think the forum trolls have made it to that level either. Not with the amount of time they spend trolling on the forums.
Youre right, but it doesnt matter, because the Toxic GGG Fanboi Armada wont get the Fact, that they are one of the many Reasons POE2 fails hard.
There are multiple Issues with the Game, but nobody seems to care, so the Player numbers drop hard, and no, there are many frustrated ppl , that will NOT come back.
GGG made their own Job almost unbearable Hard. Not Caring about the Playerbase and beeing rough for new Players to join, including superharsh Death Penalties, and also a Forum, where you get insulted for making this a topic, yeah, thats the Way into Oblivion.
Farewell.

Yep and it feels horrible without even thinking about it. People don't even go "hmmm I just got punished hard (for something that the devs said is to be expected), time to get an incredible amount of HP and defense so maybe this happens less", no, they think "I just came home from a hard day of work, chose to play this game instead of doing something with my family or anything else, and then all the free time I have today just got wasted in an instant."
