🏚️ 💰 WE NEED AUCTION HOUSE NOT TRADES!!!
I don't use the trading system since its just too damn clunky and inconvenient. Keep the overall idea in place where you have to purchase the item trade tabs, but they need to add an in-game interface to it and, for the love of whatever deity they worship, make it so that the items don't need to be traded "in person", so that there are less scams and better usability - meaning the person selling the item doesn't need to be online for it to have been sold.

+1 The devs don't trade themselves and think this prevents botting. It doesn't and it doesn't make players lives better in any aspect other than to benefit players who don't play.
All this does is encourage the most basic of scum trade tactics that are even easier to do. Any anti-bot mechanics, the eco is already decimated by dupes, and illegitimate play. The reasons why they stated this system in the first place has completely failed it's purpose. Dernière édition par BIGMP#3106, le 12 févr. 2025 00:01:58

" This is one of the most well-thought-out takes I've seen on the AH debate. You brought up a great historical example with the PS4 AH and how its design actually made market manipulation harder. I also completely agree that the current trade system is way more bot-friendly than a well-implemented AH would be. Your breakdown of why trading should be an option, not a restriction, is spot-on. Well said! There are also plenty of examples of loot-based games with auction houses or structured trading systems that worked well: World of Warcraft (WoW) – The auction house has been a core part of WoW’s economy for decades, allowing players to trade efficiently without diminishing the value of grinding for gear, mats, or rare items. Final Fantasy XI (FFXI) – Has an auction house system that allowed players to buy and sell items effectively, supporting a strong player-driven economy. It didn’t remove the need for farming, just made trading smoother. Lost Ark – Uses a market board and trade system that lets players buy and sell gear and materials while still maintaining grind-based progression. Warframe – Has an external auction-like system (Warframe Market) that makes finding items smoother without devaluing grinding. Final Fantasy XIV – Has a market board that enables trading while keeping gear progression meaningful. Diablo 2 (unofficial trading sites) – Even though it never had an AH, third-party sites essentially functioned as one, and the game thrived with a player-driven economy. These games prove that an AH doesn’t have to "ruin" progression—it just makes trading more accessible while keeping the core gameplay intact. The real issue is how an AH is implemented, not whether it exists. Thanks for bringing such a well-reasoned perspective to the discussion! " Unfortunate it'll be cast into the abyss. Maybe the game only needs to lose another 50% players for the attitude to change. |

" I can say this, coming from console where the trade board (similar to your request) existed on its own for years that it was a god awful system filled with afk traders, pages upon pages of unfilterble junk etc.. Eventually we got the website that PC used, but suffered from a culture unused to the whisper system. The website is awesome, the level of customised filtering meant you could find (if it existed on our smaller playerbases) the item you wanted and whisper the person knowing they were not afk. If they didn’t reply you at least had the name of the item to search for (which still took time and sometimes a lot of it to find) and could trade board offer on it as well. I think there was a strong desire at GGG to get rid of the console trade board ( why I don’t understand) but it stayed. It would be nice for poe2 to have both BUT console players are going to have to get used to the whisper trading or miss out on trades. Trading is broken in multiple ways that could easily be fixed by an auction house.
I go to the trade site, find items that match. Guess what... I message person after person after person trying to get a okay item for a handful of exalted, but nobody is replying. No one cares to take the time to sell an item for a few exalted anymore. Its insanely frustrating, and makes me want to abandon the game. There isnt a viable way to progress without being able to trade. I'm not going to spend hours and hours and hours hoping for a miraculous trade reply. " This is a multi-faceted issue. There are people that just don’t get the whisper system, both ways in that someone in the middle of a pinnacle fight isn’t going to reply for a while whilst you are eager to get your trade done. There is also ‘hideout warriors’ (I believe that was the coined term) that just sit in hideout manipulating trades to make profit (dump a load of cheaper than market items on trade then trying to buy said items cheap). Then there are console players that never used the website when it was added and still don’t ’get it. There are people that just don’t feel like stopping their fun for 2ex when they’re sitting on 300+. And finally there is the divine problem that due to its drop rate being disproportionate to its utility it has become the trade ‘mega coin’ which is causing unnatural inflation. Most of these issues existing in the same or similar form (except the divine issue) on XBox back in August 2017 when we had ONLY a trade board. Since they added website and TB to console it has been much much better for those that learned the website. +1 on the AH.
I would just add a simple fix to AH and current trade: Any item can only be sold once after it was either dropped or enhanced by craft. This will kill any botting or speculation and require basically no special computation, programation or complexe procedure. You loot a white you can sell it, the buyer can enhanced it and resell it and that's it. No more speculation. You buy a leveling item, you can use it but you can't put it back into the market unless you risk altering its value by orbing it. |

I hate it, when people tell me what I need... ^^
"We need" "we want" blahblah... Could you guys stop including me and other people in your demands? Just say what YOU want or need? ;) Thank you. But, on the other hand... regarding this specific topic: There are actually valid arguments for an AH. Most importantly - for ME at least ;) - is the fact that people would actually have to list stuff for a price they are actually willing to sell Nor more skipping through the first 3 pages on the trade site. Oh.. and scamming would be a thing of the past. (At least swap-scams etc.) On the other hand I can see he forum filles up with threads abolut how people actually set the wrong price, put things in th wrong tab, whatever. But doing things with open eyes then would be our respeonsibility as players. So yeah, for this time, include me in hs "we" :-D edit: Oh, I actually forgot. As long as the new whisper notification can only ne heard when you crank it up all the way and mute all other sound,, I am all for an AH anyway.. GGG will never change this shit market. These 80k logged into the game are mostly bots, players with multiple accounts, all to be able to farm using a broken system and do RMT. GGG created this market to work in this dirty way. They make money from it, that's for sure.
GGG has become a trash company. |
