EXP loss on death

Stop moving the goalpost. 95 is free. You don't need more and you certainly don't need flexibility if you are incapable of progressing past that.

Diablo 4 already does handouts very well - go play that instead of trying to turn everything else into mush.

Typical disengenious response. No one is asking for handouts and never claimed I can't progress past 95, I've stated the opposite numerous times but you insist on diminishing dissenting opinions by falsely representing them.

Also, if you actually read the posts on this topic, even in other threads, it was always overwhelmingly centered around lvl90 being the point at which more levels don't matter. You are the one who moved the goalposts to 95
What I don't understand is people who defend the xp loss are at the same time parroting "last levels don't matter". So if they don't matter, why are you trying to gatekeep people from getting that?

Where can you even brag with your streamer-build enabled lvl100 character? If you're worried about people competing for that first lvl100, well those who start dying more and more at lvl90+ won't win that competition anyway.

In a game where everyone has to be a glass cannon, that can't be any reason either.

Jonathan has already confirmed that exp reductions for lvls 95+ are coming in the next patch with it being very safe to assume that they will be similar to poe1.

Granted we still don't have as many ways to scale area level in poe2, but we will and they will be easier to access.

Now connect the dots. It might not be a handout right away - since it'll require some time input at the beginning - but eventually whiners get what they want and they will keep pushing to make it easier.

Once a developer caves on something as fundamental it's over. You will see it pretty soon with trading.

I'm trying to preserve some aspirational content from being left the fuck alone.

Let's flip the question and ask you why do you think everybody should be entitled to the level cap, regardless of how many times they flop their character?

I don't know what game you're playing, but this mentality is precisely the problem. It's not the game's fault that you cannot progress, okay?

First of all, losing XP on death is early 2000's MMO mechanic that was total crap back then too, usually included in the worst monetized games that sold XP boosts. "Entitled".. Again, level cap doesn't matter as you say, so there's zero entitlement there? If we want to be serious, not knowing where your build ends up skillpoint-wise, makes everyone use the same builds. That's already adding to current other problems. If someone wants to bang their heads to the wall dying in half of the maps (and losing the maps), they should be allowed to crawl forward that slowly. Also pretty sure in the end everyone would be OK with you just losing the XP you got from the map you were running when you died.

BTW, considering the state of servers and the bugs here, it often IS the game's fault that your progress was deleted.
+1 xp lost on death must be removed
+1 Remove xp loss or boost significally xp gain.

No. This is the crux of this 'argument' and the sole reason for why games like D4 or LE are absolute mush with no actual goals.

Go play that if you want to progress regardless of how you build and/or play your character.

So your actual goal in this game is to get to lvl100, and you want that only your meta build can get there? If you're someone competing on that then I wonder why does that 0.1% community want to gatekeep non-optimal non-meta builds? As I said they're not going to win the races with their builds anyway.

This game needs way more build diversity, if you're basically shutting down their (slow) progress because they didn't look for a guide to build their character, lot of people will just run to other games. This is common problem with many games.
It is pretty much the only aspirational goal currently, since pinnacle bosses are severely undertuned.

I have no intention of levelling to 100 - it requires too much time and the endgame is too mind numbing for me to slog through.

Many off-meta builds have already progressed to 100, which completely nullifies your 'point'.
