10% xp penalty is far too frustrating
XP loss is designed as an indicator for you to learn how to play.

" Erm no its not, even kripp the guy that loves ruthless and the golden child ggg allways listen says there is nothing learning about after death effects which is killing people in maps at. i hope you get to 90+ and die from amob that blows you up in higher tier maps which you had no control over and could not see coming, and lose 10 hours of exp, then you can tell you self git gud man |

" Just from the top of my head, those blood mage casters (i think) that cast a meteor, you dont even see them, they are in the back lines in dark enviroments especially, you just see the comets falling in half a second, and many times there are more than one of them, so you get 2 or 3 comets to the head in half a second, instant pop. That´s just one, there´s many more. IGN - Slayonara

It's bad enough you only get 1 shot at everything in maps.
It's another when the entire point of the xp penalty was because you could "death zerg" a boss / map by just throwing yourself at it until you whittled them down. 6 deaths in PoE1 was a crazy penalty for continuing to try to beat a map; a left over archaic design choice stemming from their desire to be as close to Diablo 2 as possible, while not letting players actually complete content like Diablo 2 allowed you to. But at least they could try to validate the existence of the penalty, despite the limitation of 6 tries on something that costs you valuable time and money to do. There's zero validation for PoE2. Everything resets, everything deletes itself. That's already 6x harsher than the first game; having an xp penalty added on top of that is just salt in the wound. Leave that kind loss and finality to Hardcore where it belongs. It doesn't belong in softcore, including all these pseudo "hardcore-lite" designs that function just like cramming Ruthless into the game to muddy the difficulties, instead of keeping clear defined lines between them. |

To level up to 90 in POE1 I had to sit in on a 5-way or a Sim run and hope I didnt get hit with a stray arrow while I leeched XP.

There will be people who defend this, it's a big playerbase with a lot of opinions. But those people should be ignored. The only people in favor of this are the ones who like to feel like they are better than others because they are more Hardcore, but are too pussy to play Hardcore.
The game is grindy enough. Leave death penalty for the Hardcore players. |
