" The way PoE works is that it's played seasonally, so that literally doesn't matter - every PoE league's player numbers drop to nearly nothing over the course of two months, and then there's a new peak/huge comeback when a league drops. PoE2 is very likely to be the same. so only the peaks really matter. Dernière édition par Xyel#0284, le 10 déc. 2024 04:54:43

" Over-hyped games draw people in in a short duration, when it goes on for months, years, or even decades people lose interest... POE 1, POE 2 exist simultaneously. They share similar player pool, retention would be the key to viability. It would not the same as before. Eventually Their peak could falter, as they compete against each other. The most successful, player-numbers wise, PoE1 legue were settlers, literally the newest one, so I don't see the interest fading over time.
It's true also for other games - counter strike, over the 13 or so years of the game's history, had the highest player peak last year. Dota 2 is also ancient, and had a peak within 15 % of its all time high earlier this year. Fortnite, afaik, is having the highest player counts of all time this year. Some people lose interest over time, but new people come and play, and such is the existence of live service games. Dernière édition par Xyel#0284, le 10 déc. 2024 06:53:04

" If you notice those that rise, why do you not see those that fall? Live gaming services do shutdown their service. Live gaming service are only as successful as their Profit. In the end it's just business. There is nothing to worry about. Popularity of video games come and goes too. |

PoE2 is to be a live service game and as it sits currently, I don't know how successful it will be if GGG does a 3 month rotation. Souls like games are fun for a playthough, but it's a heavy grind that will likely turn all but the most hardcore of the playerbase off. PoE1 is a quicker grind and still the repeating of the campaign was a point of contention in the community. For those that don't know, the PoE1 campaign can be completed casually in about 10-15 hours for a first playthrough if following a build guild.
Only time will tell if the game will be successful as a live service game. If they simply released it as a standalone game, I wouldn't doubt that it would be a success, but live service has hurdles of it's own that GGG will need to contend with, as I'm sure they're aware. We're less than a month in and the game will certainly change drastically in the next 6 months. I've got over 6k hours in PoE1 and I'm inclined to give GGG the benefit of the doubt as they've delivered quality gameplay for years so far. |

Down to 380 peaks now on steam. Not good for this early in the launch. It should be picking up momentum from word of mouth instead the opposite seems to be happening.

" One month from now will likely be the release of the Druid and Huntress, along with the shapeshift mechanics which players have been drooling at for YEARS since they were teased. We'll be swamped with the great were-UwU invasion peak at that time. |
