Sanctum for Ascendancy Discussion POE2
I don't understand how you're supposed to realistically go from poe1 trials to poe2 trials, assuming you have only ever experienced Lab like I had.
Honor trials are barely tolerable if you happen to not get rares that dump aoe effects on the ground, but Ultimatum and Sekhemas is such an extreme jump in difficulty from Labs that I wonder if you forgot that people that came from 1 and didn't play too much are wanting to look at 2. The rest of the things in the game so far I've handled fine (I'm only level 41 in poe2 and not completed act 3 atm). Bosses are tough but manageable. Grounded effects from rares are a nuisance but fine if I focus. The trials were grueling, and far more difficult than anything the story throws at you by a mile if you do it on level. The Ultimatum and Sekhemas trials are recommended either way too early, or should be downgraded entirely to the Labyrinth of POE1, then upped to Sekhemas or an introductory version of Ultimatum. I am told from others more experienced than I that I'm not familiar enough with builds, yet at this point I can't exactly respec since it is too expensive without grinding hours into the Ultimatum. That's fine on Standard since I get quite a bit of loot from Ultimatum, but I don't understand how people do it on HC, let alone SSF HC. If the third trial is harder than either Ultimatum or Sekhemas, I don't think you'll attract anyone to your game quite frankly. I finally beat Ultimatum after about two to four hours of grinding the place for levels, but it wasn't fun. I didn't find Sekhemas very fun either as mostly melee. I could sit back and Glacial Cascade all day, but that is very boring to do. Dernière édition par Enjuden#3065, le 14 déc. 2024 19:05:27

" Yes, the issue is the length full stop. I don't care if I have to fight a tough boss, or run through some challenge rooms, but don't make me run through challenges for 20 minutes and THEN face a boss with one life. It's sadistic and about as far from fun as I can imagine. |

Honestly considering just quitting til they fix it. Being forced to do sanctum for my 3rd ascendancy makes the game completely unfun and more like a chore than a hobby

" This is the thing for me as well. I'll die 30 times on a boss. It's mildly annoying, but whatever. I can take breaks if I need to. But not with Trials. Nope it's all or nothing and it's usually nothing. Get DC'd? Start over. Have something come up? Start over. Just bash your head against it until you win or uninstall. Or just pretend Ascendancies aren't in the game, which is what I've been doing. |

Agreed. This is as bad idea as removing rolling mods from normal currency. Really a bad idea after another, the new patch 0.1.0e nerfs are absolutely horrible. They didn't even give us a week before they nerfed things to the ground again. What are we doing GGG? No really? I tough you know your players..

Fun story, I posted the concept for the exact system used for the sanctum map literally as a proposed solution to replace Lab, It was designed to give you more choice about how you navigated the difficult trials leading to your ascendancy similar to how lab already worked but a bit more depth to give you (more choice)
It didn't include honor or any of the affliction stuff but it's just kind of making me sad that the concept i had hoped would make the game better for everyone and spent all that time drawing concepts out for is causing so much strife in the community now. It also takes me back to the HUGE effort by the community(Turtledove most notably the keeper of the masterthread) to have lab removed from the game which in large part was also added reason for my trying to push the concept in the first place it was meant to be the labyrinth expanded for a new age in a much more digestible format. Honor is an absolutely awful mechanic, especially with the things that get thrown at you in higher floors. I wouldn't even mind the random whacky run-ending afflictions(no energy shield=gg) you get if the trials didn't go on for so long. 3 floors for points 5-6 is a little ridiculous.
