Id recommend using another gem and tree for witch leveling. Soulrend is good it has infinite pack clear but its boss damage is minimal especially early. So if you are looking to blitz the campaign you should do a more meta witch ability for the campaign. Otherwise soulrend will get you to end game from level 27

Oh yes, I definitely want to join this conversation – I've been playing Soulrend exclusively for at least two full years now. I'm always one of the 3–4 people playing Soulrend in Hardcore (at least among those tracked on poe.ninja).

I've tried so many variations: CoC Soulrend (not my thing), Totem SR, Brand SR, hit-based SR, Poison SR, pure Chaos DoT SR... on and on and on.

What's your take on it?

To me, the Witch ascendancy feels like just a boost to clear – and honestly, I don't think Soulrend really needs more clear.

But I do like your defensive layering – all that elemental res, phys-to-ele conversion, etc. Looks really solid.

Will this get an updated POB/levelling guide and such for 3.26? Really, really interested in playing this, this league!

I mean, I'm CI and I don't reserve Life, and Mana is one of my biggest problems — but I'm pretty sure I can cast Soulrend. :D

Also, please ignore the complete waste on the Anoint — it was a decent build overall. It just lacked single target damage, and I'm sure there's a way to fix that. I just haven’t figured out the min-maxing yet.

I can't really find a reliable way to show my DPS, since poison calculations are nearly impossible to understand — even with PoB

20% buff sure but still sucks compared to the rest of the meta.

And remember monsters in maps will have +50% HP because of the mercenary.

The hp of monsters doesn't really matter as explosion scales with it. Having a merc will be amazing.

You cant look at it with such a minimal perspective. If you strip away all the gear abilities and all that fun stuff that comes with the entire mercenaries expansion and just say "Enemies get 50% hp GG RIP".


The build before this can clear all content and do whatever juicing you need. On top of that there are multiple buffs this league and various new unique items to try with the build.
