How about you elaborate a little bit more as in what level is your character, you passive tree, how much hp you have, what type of monster it was and such. For example enough elemental damage can stun you as well. Next time give more information and be less hostile.

It increases your armor, since stun is based on the amount of hp taken away in one hit a huge armor value can be helpful in terms of not getting stunned by physical damage.
op didnt even state what kind of damage he was stunlocked by, might aswell have been elemental damage

Not really. While amount of armor mitigates damage, armor effectiveness and thus damage mitigation, is less effective the harder an enemy hits. In other words, as damage increases damage reduction decreases. So for high damage hits, the damage reduction provided by armor heads toward zero, regardless of how much armor you have. And since being stunned is all about how much life you have compared to the damage you took, using a granite flash to prevent being stunned by hard hitting enemies is a terrible strategy.

If you don't want to be stunned, get the passives or unique items that prevent it. Otherwise, build a large health pool and get items that increase your block/stun recovery and/or reduce your threshold for being stunned.

1600 HP, 35% damage reduction w/ Determination and no Granite, 86% w/ Determination & Granite.

I was fighting those green pirate mother fuckers, I think they do lightning damage, but I have 77% lightning res. with Purity. I was also constantly getting knocked back, which is another reason why I'm really fucking confused at how I managed to get stunlocked when they weren't even in melee range.
