Character reset is a total FAIL !

There are soooo many alternative ways of connecting assigned nodes in unchanged parts of a tree separated by necessarily unassigned parts (because the nodes changed) that the coding would be a horror and probably full of bugs. So the most pragmatic solution is to just reset the tree if it needs to change and let the user make all the decisions by giving them a reset. It's a compromise between [ease of migration in special cases] vs [developer time spent on fixing other issues]. May your maps be bountiful, exile

I agree with you in essence, GGG is far too focused on producing new content for high activity players (like the professional streamers) and ignore the majority of the player base where most of their revenue comes from. The people in this thread offering you (and me) advise should mind their own business and not be so rude as to tell others what they think when they know their comments are not constructive or welcome. As a SSF player I just don't have the time or inclination to play yet another temporary league, to get another level 90 character get up to red maps, to do it all again after doing it 5 times already in other leagues. Personally I have better things to do with my time than repeat what is essentially the same old grind. I still have a host of unfulfilled ambitions, never killed Shaper, or Chayula and SSF Standard gives me the opportunity to play the game at a satisfying level of difficulty without any of the boring grinding or frustrating trading or co-op play with team players I don't like and so on. I get to do my own thing, when I want and I'm not dependent on others. I would like GGG to consider casual players like me and old established players like you who want to use their old characters. Standard is much more varied and interesting now with the changes to the Masters brought in by the last league. I agree with you they need to fix the character reset options if they continually change the skill tree, make it easier, and give you reference to the old skill tree (at least) so you can reinterpret it in the new skill tree. My main annoyance at this league reset is the atlas and new maps. I don't mind the change but bitterly resent current need to buy another map stash tab to put the new maps into. I already have 2 map stash tabs and feel exploited if GGG expect me to buy another one every 3 months. That would make me quit the game. For standard we need some method of making a map stash tab filled with old maps into a remove only and making the map stash tab available for taking new maps. This should be how the map tab functions in Standard or Hard core leagues. Anyway, great post and thanks for raising these issues and defending them against the detractors :) |

It's easier to do it that way I suppose. If they had to write more code to refund only that which had changed, it would cost them time. (not a programmer, so I am assuming this, I could be wrong) Time is money. No need to allocate resources to something that is already solved.

The first league I played that ended I actually was confused why the game allowed me to reset while it already was reset and putting trying to allocate a passive warned me that I would lose the ability to reset. The reason was that my old tree was just not working with the new options (and that the given informations were and still are pretty bad). Imagine you pick passive X as a path to passive Y but X got removed. How would your tree look like? Having achieved a free leap? That might give you 2 or more additional passive points since you save ones for the path. Or would it deactivate the not corrected parts? So what happens when someone doesn't noticed the missing connection and allocates another passive will this remove the ability to reset? Guess that would lead to an even greater (and more justified) outcry. OP is just a crybaby unable to think or reasonable ask about the reasons. Can't imagine a better example for a crybaby. |

" Come on you are an old player so you should know. What I do is transfer all the chars into pob (not updated to the latest patch) then I intall a second pob and update it to the new version and import the chars here too, if something does not work anymore I fix it in the new pob version. Then when the patch hits the server, I only look at pob and rebuild my chars, usually takes me about one hour.
