[3.5] CheeQu's CoC Ice Nova Assassin - Up to 7m Shaper DPS + Amazing Clearspeed [In-Depth Guide]

Just curious considering we exceed the attk speed by a lot what are the downsides? I mean thinking just based off my mind, if I attack too fast it just doesn't trigger why is there a need to optimise attk speed?

CoC gem has a cooldown. If you hit more often than what the cooldown of CoC gem is, some of your hits will not trigger Ice Nova. So you shouldnt invest in useless attack speed.

Corrupted blood only prevents the corrupted blood ailment, not the puncture bleeding sadly.

The heat on the life flask is fine, I haven't been one shot by anything that's frozen me - so I just pop it if I get frozen (and use the pantheon that prevents consecutive freezes).

Feel free to hit me up ingame if you want to chat.

Hey mrpetrov, after reading through the last 20 odd pages of this thread to catch up on what people are doing, I've noticed you've gone a slightly different route. Do you have a PoB link for your set up just so I can see figures and get some more details?

Trying to compare the use of Anger to Aspect of the Spider and all that on my PoB is resulting in a lot of back and forth.

On another note, after changing bits and pieces of my build for ages, I decided to take it to Uber Elder, managed to instantly put Elder and Shaper into their invulnerability phases each time they came out. First time since Elemental Hit was initially reworked that I've been able to do that.

Sure mate, here is my setup:
https://pastebin.com/GfUrPZeG

Note my IAS is 3.69, not 3.48 that PoB says, because PoB doesn't include the 7%ias jewel that I use (it only kicks in if you've crit recently, which is always with this build, but PoB doesn't have that configuration option).

Also note that I did not take the Annihilation node as my spell crit chance for my main 6L coc Nova is capped, so there's no point being overcapped on crit chance.

@ CheeQu Both would be ideal but I like % life if only 1 because game doesn't play like theory. You often dont get to spin on boss continuously. You often only get one or two crits off before you have to get away from them. Thats where leech shine,

Especially when out of diamond flask only at 65-75% crit.

Sure, that's very true. Ill leave some more interesting math for more thinking:

The life leech gem has the 50% increased life leeched per second property. That means that with leech from this gem you need 10 / 1.5 = 7 hits to cap your 20% max life leech rate, whereas with normal leech you need 10 hits.

From the "leech from everything" method (your method) you generate 33.25 leech instances per second (7.5 cyclone, 15 main ice nova, 3.25 frostbolt, 7.5 secondary ice nova). So against single target you can cap your leech rate in 10 / 33.25 = 0.396 sec (gets rounded up to meet with cyclone hit) or in 3 Cyclone hits.

From the "leech from cospris" method you generate 10.75 leech instances per second (3.25 frostbolt, 7.5 secondary ice nova).
So against single target you can cap your leech rate in 7 / 10.75 = 0.66 (gets rounded up to meet with a cyclone hit) or in 5 Cyclone hits.

Now let's include LGoH from watchers eye to the cospri leech method and calculate leech for 3 cyclone hits to compare with the leech from everything method:

3 hits with cyclone with the leech from cospri method will generate on average 4.5 (1.5 Frostbolt, 3 Ice Nova) x 1.5 = 6.75 leech instances. That's 13.5% of max life regen per sec. Adding the 30 LGoH: In 3 cyclone hits we hit a total of 13.5 times (3 cyclone, 6 main ice nova, 1.5 Frostbolt, 3 secondary Ice Nova). 13.5 x 30 = 405 life or if we assume 6200 life, it's 405 / 6200 = 6.5% of max life. Combining those two we get; 13.5 + 6.5 = 20% of life.

So funnily enough (didnt know this before reaching this point in the post) both setups will regen the same amount of life with 3 cyclone hits in the course of a second. (things get weired if you calculate beyond or for sooner than one second).

So with this new info, the added benefit of LGoH reaching a max of 29% life regen per sec against the cap of 20% max life regen for plain leech makes this an easy choice for me from now on! (If there's a mistake in the numbers point it out but I think it's right.)

Guys ive earned 5ex for selling stuff and got a money to upgrade things,
can You look on my tree (Psimmis80- ive made respec for those 3 skills, thanks a lot)- and on my gear and tell me what to do to be rdy for endgame content?

I have no troubles at all, choosed mana leech to sustain with mana more, worked well, have almost 6.1k hp, thats huge and good amount of leech.
But just want to put a cherry on that beauty cake haha.

Pandemonious? mine necklace isnt good enough? rest of gear can be changed but hardly for me- res and life everywhere.

Thanks for Your opinion Guys!

Thanks for that man, I was struggling on my build to see why Anger would be used, as I was getting more damage with Aspect of the Spider and more mana spare as well. Now I see it was because my build has a lot more crit multi before adding the jewel.

Also, PoB just updated to fix that jewel issue! Good timing.

I don't take Annihilation either, not worth the points even in my build which isn't as focused on crit chance.

First I suggest reading the wiki page on leech mechanics: https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Leech

Basically in my post I compare how fast we reach the leech cap by:

1: Using leech gem in cospri (and leeching from only the frostbolt and ice nova in the cospri).

VS

2: Leeching from all the spells via a form of global damage leech (either warlords mark or vitality life leech Watchers Eye jewel).

The results are fairly close with the 2nd leech method being just a little bit faster than cospri leech. (0.4 sec vs 0.66 sec needed to reach the cap)

If we add 30 Life Gain on Hit from vitality Watchers Eye jewel to the cospri leech method it evens out (we reach 20% of max life regen per sec at the same time), but with the added benefit that Life Gain on Hit can exceed that 20% cap that leech has if you keep hitting enemies, increasing overall sustain in facechecking scenarios.

Cant look ak the tree since trees on mobile dont work properly.

Gear wise you can do 4 major things:

1. replace one of the two life flasks with wise oak and make sure your cold resistance is the highest of the three (for the cold pen effect of the flask).

2. Upgrade belt to at least 14% (or more) cooldown recovery. Anything less than that is actually useless and you hurt yourself if you have more than 3 APS without 14%+ cooldown recovery.

3. Pandemonius, but it could wait since your amulet has good life and some crit chance and multi.

4. Helmet enchant for Enfeeble curse effect or Ice Nova damage
