Does fusing orbs have been nerfed?

We will never know unleas they tell us directly.
This is the best time in history to 6 link gear. They are literally throwing quality at gear.
I have a 28% armour with about 900 fuses in, no 6 links yet.

Not sure what to think about it. Maybe the chance of 6 linking is so low that the difference between 20% and 28% isn't that great, but then again I have no statistical analysis to back that up.

If you go by averages, sooner or later you're going to be hit with one of those bad luck where no 6 link happens despite thousands of fuses. That's how wide the bell curve is.

They should at the very least tone down the scale from upgrading currency at the vendor to a 1:1:1-> ratio instead of the 2(alts):4(S.Orb):1(L.Orb) since we no longer get the benefit of a Haku/Elreon/Vorici trade-chain anymore.

"Oh but you buy them from other players"
Took me 2 hours to get 60 Gemcutters...
pretty sure that random, first time powerball winner simply got super lucky. You on the other hand, is just super unlucky..
"fuck around and find out"
In average 1 of 1500 Fusings provide 6L.

1 Player spend 5996 Fusings
other 4 players spend 4 fusings and 6L each item

The average is then 1 6L per 1500.

You hare just "unlucky" to get the final hit for 6L because other players where luckier than you.
I spent like 5000 once and 20 another time usually around 400-700 though. When you fall on either end of the bell curve you feel great or shitty depending where. You're feeling the shitty part. Is normal.

BTW you shouldnt need a 6L to make it to Primeval Ruins where recipe is at... Recipe is the nerf made a long time ago.

fyi

don't confuse the vorici price with manually linking items!
the average is quite a bit lower.
The low chance to fuse something to 6L isnt a problem.

The design problem is in loosing 5L when trying to upgrade it.
Taking into account chance for 6L, the system shouldn't downgrade your links when you attempt to 6L. Otherwise it penalize you two times, or require you to have two same items. One for linking other for grinding.

The other solution is to remove the crafts (1500 fusings) with they already restriced to appear only in high depth delve (with require you to have 6L before hand anyway - logic design) and then just increase success chance the more fusings you put into the item.

In example 1st fusing = 0,01%, 10th fusing 0,1% chance, 100th fusing 0,5% chance and so on (numbers are just examples). Giving some safety to bad luck streaks of some people.

jeez so much negativity. My sample size is correlated with my game experience playing regularily since 3 years, so I'm pretty sure about how I feel about using fusings, thank you for explaining me that the feeling I have using a particular game mechanic is nonsensical.

Also I'm an engineer and I know maths, so for you guys telling me that I'm clueless about probability: yeah ty :).

My data is for maybe 15-20K fuses total I 6Led only 6 items in poe, and when I 6Led an item, I 6Led other items in the particular league I was in. :)

With respect, it kinda sounds like you don't get probability. To me, the OP came across as "good luck = normal, bad luck = malfeasance on the part of GG trying to screw me out of progression...".

If you do "know maths", would you mind calculating for me the probability of 6l an item in 3 attempts if the average is 1,500 (and I assume that by that they mean that you've got a 50% chance with 1,500 attempts)? Then do the same for 2,500 attempts.
