[3.10] OneShotKill Elemental Hit Ballista Hiero - 9.6 million DPS - EZ Boss Killer + budget friendly

I changed the original build some more in LI PoB and am getting much more reasonable numbers, similar to what you just posted. I did forget to set it to Shaper/Elder, probably because I assumed the OP would do it (silly me).

I was agreeing with you earlier, you were right about the legacy items making a big difference (mostly the 100% Point Blank Chin Sol).

So my issues are basically solved. Thanks for the feedback though. My only real upgrades left are a +8 Frostferno instead of +6 and some nice double corruptions on Kaom's and Tombfist.

That's great!

Yeah I know you agreed on the legacy items making a difference(and indeed the 100% Point Blank Chin Sol make a HUGE difference!) but I just thought it still seems like there's still quite a bit of difference between yours and OP's DPS(Even after the legacy items were taken into account) so my curiosity just got the better of me to want to figure it out! Also I can learn more this way by playing more with POB.

I would say you can play it but there's some sacrifices and it's probably not worth


One of the issues using other ascendancy compared to Hierophant is

Mana issues

A. Playing other ascendancy, you will be summoning 1 totem instead of 2 without Hierophant's Ritual of Awakening ascendancy skill. So we need to summon double the amount of times and thus use more mana.

Multiple Totems are not quite the solution for the above since we are using only 4 socket for our main skill. Thus, replacing one of the skill(e.g. Combustion Support or Elemental Damage with Elemental Attacks Support) with multiple totem decreases our DPS too much to be a decent solution to this issue.


B.Not being a Hierophant also means not having Ritual of Awakening, which also gives tons of mana regeneration, enabling us to reserve most of our mana and just need to have a little bit for casting our totems.

The Rain of Splinter Jewel itself has a "Limited To: 1" in its description so nope can't use 2 regardless of builds/class etc.

Played around with POB and seems like I can go from my 1.1m DPS to 2.3m DPS! per totem projectile at level 99, with one gear swap to the ones I am currently using and adding some additional gems.

Which means...

Total DPS of 16.1m! (7 Totems X 2.3m per Totem)

(Better than the advertised 9.6m in title and even more than the initial old pre-nerf 12m DPS! ^_^)

*Note for people who are unaware I written a post on Page 173 (Second Last Post on Page) with suggestion Item/Passive Tree/Gem changes for 3.9 so this is in addition to those.


What did I do?

So what I did was as follows:


1. Swap out my Kaom's Heart for a rare Body Armour with

- You can apply an additional Curse affix
- 33+ Int if you follow my Passive Tree(Page 173 2nd last post) and are not getting any Int from other gears(Need 126 Int for Level 5 Awakened Curse on Hit)
- 6 Linked(Gem Setup on the next point)

Example(Ignore the socket/links as this is to show the affixes)


Other affix on the Body Armour is up to you, ideally 100+ Life and some Resist, etc



2. Gem Setup in this new Body Armour will be as follows

Frenzy - Greater Multiple Projectiles - Awakened Curse on Hit(Level 5) - Flammability - Projectile Weakness - Assassin's Mark


Yup much lesser HP after taking off the Kaom's Heart, around 5k or so but DPS is roughly doubled with all the 3 curse up.

Personally I am more comfortable at 6k+ life so I am not sure if this is something I will go for, but hey, it's definitely interesting to push the limit :) Quite surprised to go even higher than the old 12m DPS!


How to enable 3 Curse on a target?

First Curse - By default a target can have 1 curse

Second Curse - Comes from the "You can apply an additional Curse affix" from the Body Armour

Third Curse - Comes from the Awakened Curse on Hit Gem(Level 5 required), enabling an additional Curse for Supported Skills

*Note In the Pastebin I edited the Body Armour to have 2 lines of "You can apply an additional Curse" to simulate the "Additional Curse" from the Awakened Curse on Hit Gem.

This is because it seems like the Awakened Curse on Hit's extra Curse is not applied to the Total DPS Calculation as it's not the "Main Skill" selected in POB

You can consider the changes, Equip + Passive Tree + Gems, that I have written on Page 173(Second Last post on page), quite a lot of changes I know, but I believe that is the update for this build to make it relevant in 3.9.

Alright, finally got round to doing my 36 challenges and finishing up for the league. Here's my final gear. I have a bunch of spare currency that I could've used to finish things like quality on Yoke and corrupting Kaom's but I like to play SSF-ish, if that makes sense.

Overall an enjoyable build for metamorph, especially after I got past a couple of hurdles I messed up on early on.
