Parties are actually ridiculous in POE

"
Each player after the first adds a bonus +10% increased item quantity and 40% increased item rarity to the party. For skill gems and currency items, party members add 50% increased item quantity and 0% increased item rarity.

So we do a full party of 6. 50% IIQ, 200% IIR, 250% IIQ currency.

Surely, the game is harder in a party. Thus, they deserve that sweet loot. Let's do some more math.

"
Monsters gain extra life for each additional party member after the first: 20% in Normal, 40% in Cruel, and 60% in Merciless.

For this one, let's assume all 6 players have similar damage. 600% party DPS, 300% monster health.

Let's look at 2 player party. 200% party DPS, 160% monster health.

For funsy, single player "party". 100% party DPS, 100% monster health.

What have we learnt here? Parties kill at least twice as fast as a solo player. Parties receive more and better loot than a solo player. Parties share auras.

BONUS ROUND:

Why do people prefer to play solo instead of with a clear party advantage?

Because you have to split it six ways?

Imagine this tho...

6 people in separate maps
+500% iiq!!

Nerf solo play!

You have to share loot? Quite basic unless you're me and I just force it out of you cause I can.

Besides any speed buffs from an aura bot, double damage is nowhere near equal to double clear speed. Typically you spend 10% of your time one shotting screens, and 90% of your time moving.

There are also all kinds of other issues that pop up with partying. Who pays for the maps? sextants? Whose atlas are you using? Scammers. etc. Unless you are playing with friends/guildies that you trust, it's more hassle than it's worth.

There are a few ways you don't have to share loot. Some more easily executed than others. Those are the exploits of the system. Even without exploiting the system, parties have an advantage.

100% loot + 50% IIQ = 150%
150% * 2 IIQ = 300%
300% * 2 DPS = 600%

That was assuming a 50% IIQ from gear and 50% from map. Which breaks even with solo player. However, currency drops even more for parties.

100% loot + 50% IIQ = 150%
150% * 2 IIQ = 300%
300% * 2 DPS = 600%

That was assuming a 50% IIQ from gear and 50% from map. Which breaks even with solo player. However, currency drops even more for parties.

Remember it's only 10% iiq per person for non currency drops. Also your math is weird. Why are you multiplying 2 iiq to get 300%? Only the person with the killing blow has their iiq checked.

So, 6 people is +50% noncurrency iiq, then times whatever iiq the killer has.

I'm more interested in these "techniques" for getting out of loot sharing.
Everybody knows party play is broken. It's just not everyone wants to invest that amount of time and coordination into a video game.
