From every video I've watched of shaper kills, it's a pure DPS check.

Not every character is capable of killing him, you make a character build around killing him. Same with uber atziri, and to a lesser degree, the guardians.

You need 2 things:
1. Enough surviveability to survive his hardest hitting attack (smash).
2. Enough sustain to keep up for the 7 minutes or so that it takes on average.

1 you can cheese.

All his damage is physical and cold damage. You can go undercap other resist for better gear np. You can bring basalt+granite+sapphire (!) flasks and those 3 flasks alone negate half the damage he does. You can add Purity of Ice on top for even more damage mitigation.

2. You have 3 options. leech is the easy way. flasks are harder (uptime management) but an option for pathfinders etc, and the hardest option is bullet hell - avoid all the bad.

I understand from your post that you cannot do 3. There is no shame in that. My pc is so garbage that I cannot do that either. So I make a character that can stand in his bad shit and survive.

yes for killing adds. also, u need to pay attention to those fucking balls. they are literally the worst thing in that fight.
