Will 2 handed melee ever be made competitive in this game?
Seriously, there is really ZERO reason (other than you're some sadistic, sentimental ex Diablo fan who just loved 2H) to choose 2h melee over anything else in this game. ZERO.
Even dual wield trash is better with its damage, AS and block bonuses, and a bow which requires you to hold 2H you somehow get to equip a quiver in the other slot, whereas holding a 2h melee weapon you can't have anything in the other slot and you get nothing in extra bonuses. You lose major defence with 2h melee empty slot, like ~2000 EHP and/or 25%+ block, armor and other stats. You gain a bit more DPS vs 1h melee (which mostly sucks as it is, being melee) but not enough to compete with best of the best range and spell skills. In fact, it's even arguable whether the 2h melee DPS is that much 'better' than the best builds out there, while you're instantly a glass cannon being 2h. Every time you think of a skill and if it is a melee skill, you're simply better off doing 1h + shield for 100x better survivability. 2H is simply a joke and the DPS boost as its only advantage is not meaningful. The 2h melee is THE single most imbalanced and unfairly treated in PoE and the out of touch balance team keeps ignoring it. The saddest part is, no one and not enough PoE reddit give a rats ass about this so it almost impossible for this to ever change. Most melee needs a buff. I think what bothers me more is i have to use fortify in my 6L, giving up huge damage just to stay alive. I dont know what a better solution would be but I think fortify should be on the passive tree near duelist and marauder. I use 2 Hander but im a softcore scrub with a mirrored 2H axe and can do all content. Oh and without my other 6L chest with a warchief setup, i dont think i could do any of the end game bosses consistently. oh and more HP plz.

Define 2 handed melee?

" Bc you wear it on your back so your not holding it. Bows are held with one hand until you've drawn the arrow, unless your out of arrows & have to use it as a club- so thank ggg we don't have to run around and pick up arrows off the ground to replace the 10k we shoot out with rain of arrows 😂 I been playing a cyclone build since I came back this season but I normally play bow builds. What i would sort of like to see is a new item exclusive to 2h use in the way that quivers are (sort of) exclusive to bow use - something along the lines of an "arm brace" or "elbow brace". I mean hanging onto and whacking stuff with something that looks like it could weigg 50-100kg+ must take a toll on the joints right? Just make it an item that cant get sockets (similar to quivers) that can roll stats beneficial to 2h melee weapons, and make it unequip if you equip a 1h wep.

tbh one handed life build sucks the most. With 2 handed at least u can wear kaoms. But then again most one handed builds now go CI and 2 handed is stuck with life, which is obviously inferior. Quiver is definitely too good. I agree that other 2 handed weapons should get a similar attachment. It's funny that many summoners now use +3 bow instead of +3 staff because of the extra quiver.
