In all honesty, melee is going to struggle like it always has, some numerical dps boost's are not their main concern. Then again, i love cracking some skulls so i'll still be playing it.

Losing the AOE functionality will be a hit to clear-speed, which was what made EQ compete with ranged. Combine it with the slayer AOE nerf and it's a bit of a bummer.

All the name-lock skills got a big buff, via melee splash buff and skill gems top-end buff, but nobody will play those most likely since you still require namelock and a lot of movement between packs.

I had a fantastic laugh with reave's damage boost though, facepalm level of laughs where had.

Unless you happen to be a non realistic being that can make ranged obsolete due to traveling at the speed of light while being melee your way through.




Frost blades also got a damage buff despite being more of a ranged skill than a melee skill. Ice Crash got a nice buff too with the AoE portion being more potent in 2.4.

Dunno what you mean by "unversal" but In d2,d3,titan quest,grim dawn,sacred,this law doesn't exist. Depending on the patch one outperforms the other and vice versa,thing is GGG can't make it right yet,or should i say,there was never a point where melee outperformed range. I guess its time to look somewhere else than passives and skills.
