Party Play in Poe is boring as fuck.

Agree with OP. I used to really party play (I still do during the leveling process on new leagues). But end-game party play is almost non-existent for all of the reasons OP mentions (although I would be lying if I didn't say that I'm that guy with the high dps everyone is trying to keep up with--but I dont do coc!)
Is there a way to play the game with old assets on new engine or something simmilar? (ofc not)

I played this game mostly for party play on lan parties, but now its immposible to enjoy.

/players 8 anyone?
Adjustable difficulty could work well, even on same rarity/quantity settings, just to have fun and bragging rights.
They need a difficulty setting if they dont want up monster HP to account for all these new OP gems/items. I read that Chris said we are just getting better/more experienced as players. No, this game is not rocket science, optimal builds take days to figure out not years, instead you guys are introducing all these DPS multipliers like "more" gems, heralds, golems, jewels, ascendancy, and ridiculous OP items like Cospri's Will and Voidheart and not beefing up monsters HP to account for it.

Maybe they want everyone play "god mode" hack until mid maps (at least). Their 1400 volls run challenge seems to indicate that. Just one shot everything and grind. Seems boring to me. I'm not saying I want super long haul fights like a MMO but something in between would be nice.

They want everyone to be able to have fun with their own weirdass build, even in solo play.
With the level of scaling and combining and bending of the rules the game allows, this is the result when you put theorycrafted and geared characters in a party instead.

Without infinitely scaling D3-style content, that is.

But why wouldn´t you be able having fun without facrolling the content? I don´t think current state of game is fun.

Yeah that´s not true at all. It was true in 2014. Where exp were still same except there were no 78 maps in open beta(2013), the difficulty was comparable but clear speed was faster because of player experience, Not faceroll like we have today. For example on other games I have alot time played like Monster Hunter Freedom Unite I´d never say game is even close to easy not even after 5k hours played, because even though I was already good I knew it wasn´t easy. But PoE now is super easy.. =(

I am not sure if anyone here remember Akira one of most hardcore players in 2013/early 2014 I loved his stream and I always hoped he will come back, anyway these days I hope he won´t come back to see current state of PoE so at least he has good memories on the game.. And when chris talked about it´s because players are getting better and are more experienced I believe Akira was already back then on higher skill level than most of "top" players are now. https://www.twitch.tv/akiralive/v/45856435 - one of his highlights.

I agree, we are on an upward curve of char power, but that isn't an uncommon thing in a lot of games, imo.

I remember the first character I made in this game was a weak ranger.

I joined a party to do the Malachai quest.

Well, just as others here have said, it was a bit of a revelation for me.

My first glimpse of what real OP power was like as the lead characters blew everything away.

I had trouble keeping up. I couldn't see any monsters, just huge flashes of explosions.

Well, nothing much has changed since then.

Except that now there are more OP builds capable of clearing runs.

I personally don't think that this is such a bad thing though. The more different builds, the better.

All that needs to be done is to balance the overall monster level to match, then leave it alone.

...btw, I always play solo. I find party play too ... um, easy.

Nope, weirdass (and fun builds) get nerfed out of existence while CoCancer, Frostwall + anyshit and Mjolnaids Discharger still keep kicking around.
Have no fear, the next patch will include nerfs to all the melee skills and ascendancies, and a slight buff to bow skills and spark.

Run from A to B without pressing a button
let the highest dps char kill all mobs. zzzZZZZZ

Been like that from day 1 I've been playing the game (early 2013).

OP is definitely right about speed going over the top and off the rails. I play solo and my crit Blast Rain archer can 1 shot white/blue mobs and fill screen with the above stated clusterfvck of visual pollution effects so that it makes it difficult to see an individual rare or champion in a pack. And I'm solo so x 6 has got to be an insane mess that is unplayable.

I would like to see everything slowed down back to the way it was 3+ years ago instead of buffing monsters and keeping insane speed. Also, GGG needs to add a slider so that we can dial up or down the quantity of special effect we see from skill gems. That way solo players can keep it up for high visuals and for party play slide down to minimum to be able to see what you're attacking.
"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.
