So the main problem with SSF leagues is that...
" ^^ just pretend I said that as well because I'm lazy. |

as many already pointed out drop rates arent the problem, for me the problem is the lack of viable ways for upgrading equipment.
right now we has 2 options: first is to buy it for a set price second is to sacrifice chaos/exalts and what not untill you either go bankrup or rng jesus trows you a bone and give you what you want. second option is simply not viable for anyone who is not stupidly rich to bruteforce rng. best thing for selffound players is to create a proper upgrade system to make obtaining gear less of an act of faith and more about putting an effort and geting a reward for said effort. for instance: adding "x" mod to item (lowest tier) = 10 transmutations upgrading that mod to next tier = 15 altertation upgrading that mod to next tier = 30 altertation upgrading that mod to next tier = 2 chaos ... upgrading that mod to max tier = 40 chaos add a new mod (for the first 3-4 mods) = "x" augmentations, for 5+ exalts and so on. self found league fan

" This is indeed very true.. I remeber one of my first runs through HC ever when i did Normal Mal with like a 250DPS Cyclone but had a shit ton of defenses going.. Did it take forever.. Well fuck yeah it did but i did it and didn't even come close to dieing. The drop rates are fine for a SSF league its the community that doesn't want it because the majority of people who play POE play for the economy and most people making great builds through trading alone not from playing the game. Hell theres even some people who dont play the actual game at all.. all they do is trade and flip just to see how much they can do in a fresh league. Everyone is different and everyone plays for different reasons. Forcing people to play in a way they do not enjoy will only push more people away from the game. Would I enjoy a SSF league? Hell yeah i would but thats not the issue.. The issue is all the people who would NOT enjoy a SSF league.. \m/ There is a fine line between Consideration and Hesitation.
The former is Wisdom, the latter is Fear. |

There's a third option, that caboom fails to mention. It's to play the game with the items you find and when you reach the limit that the character can maintain, you retire it and start again.
That's worked so well for me so far. |

" I leveled a characters to 93 (pushing 94 atm), 82, 78 and 76 during perandus and have gotten zero of the uniques required for the identify challenge and 1 exalted orb (dropped in Wasteland T13 map). Just today I probably did 4 hours of mapping and only good thing that came out of it was Cadiro selling me a Tabula Rasa for 119 coins. Only thing that keeps me afloat and mapping is 6S vendor recipe and then converting the fuses into chaos/alchs/vaal orbs and the occasional trade I make from whatever rare that is actually usable drops on average in 10~ hours of mapping. Also from the start of perandus only really good deals I had were: 1. An exalt sold by Cadiro in the Apex of Sacrifice for 3.4k coins 2. A Shav Wrapping sold by Cadiro in Courtyard (T13 map) for 8.4k coins 3. Steppan Eard boots sold by Cadiro in Overgrown Ruin map (T12) for 1.1k coins And I have around 10k coins rotting away in my stash tab. So from a single player perspective Cadiro certainly isn't "over the top", he isn't handing out T1 uniques every 2 hours, having 3 good deals by the time I leveled 4 different characters to ~80 and one to ~94 isn't game breaking, it actually is a good way to smooth out the huge amount of RNG involved with unique drop rates. Cadiro is broken because coins can be traded, his offers from a single player perspective are fine. And for anyone trying to push their level past 90 the drop rates are certainly not "fine". " They are... for the entire community, which is why you'd need trading The loot of one man is a tragedy, the loot of millions is a statistic. |

" Yeah... with trading it is possible, but you still bleed currency doing it without a party to rotate maps with. The point is that the endgame isn't possible as a SSF character, seeing as there is too much RNG layers: a) map drops b) currency drops c) gear drops d) rolling maps Not with normal drop rates anyway. God knows how much time a single person would need to reach: An actual endgame content in the game. [2.2] The Vampire - Tanky 2H Axe Slayer Duelist - /view-thread/1611662

The only people who want a self-found league are those who don't have the willpower to play self-found.

I would like a self-found league. Just for other self found people to compete and chat with as I played. One of my biggest gripes of PoE is I get to the point where I'm spending more time on web pages scanning for items than I do playing the game, and when I am playing the game, I'm just piecing together recipes to go back to the "auction house" to look for more stuff. It gets cumbersome. And, I like rolling my own stuff, but I can't in good faith just throw away orbs when I could just trade them for something better.
A self-found league would be fun for a bit, IMO. I dont care about the drop rates being raised, or whatnot, but I would like to just be able to play it with mostly like-minded people and "compete" so to speak. And, use all my stuff I pick up instead of hording it to spend hours on a webpage scanning for items, and then the entire barter system that just pisses me off to my core, as people continually low-ball 24/7. I'd come back to PoE for that. Only reason I'm here now is I have been debating doing a little self-found to kill the time when I dont feel like tryharding in League of Legends. |
