Mind over Matter, review and discussion
Does MOM matter work with EB if you have mana reservation below 43%?

Read the OP, and the first handful of posts on page 1.
I often see people talk about their maximum Life or ES pools. But I almost never see people talk about what flat damage reductions they're also using. I ran a close-range Life + MoM Elementalist, and I felt insanely tanky. I only had 4.4k HP and about 800 unreserved Mana. But I also ran a lot of raw damage mitigation sources, and even a bunch of Armour. I see a lot of talk about how much maximum effective Life pool your Life + Mana can be considered, but zero mention of other things in a particular build. People think just mindlessly stacking a high, phat number is all you need to do. You can get away with doing that, but if you can't build expensively, build smarter. Whether you're Life, ES, or some weird 3rd option I don't know about. I, like some others, disagree with the OP's statement that going MoM forces you to focus on maximizing it. I think you CAN, but that's your decision. It works great as a complimentary damage reduction along with all the others you should also be running. The only opinion I have that I can think of, that might be able to be used towards the OP's general ballpark of an argument, would be that I believe just about all Life builds should probablyyyyy fit MoM in somehow. It's just too good, and - in my opinion - the biggest advantage Life builds have. |

Hello OP,
I did two MoM/EB Tanks back in the days of 2.2 and 2.4. They had 100% mana reserved and refilled their ES with up to 18 Energy SHield on hit gain with a lot of hits per second due to moltenstrike. Unfortunately those builds were very expensive and also got gutted by GGG to be completely unplayable in endgame. But you can take a look if you are interested in the mechanics -> videos are provided as well Templar: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1646232 Juggernaut: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1714478 |
