Change to the gem experience progression
" I better get used to buying my level 20 gems then, I've never managed to break past level 85, I just barely managed to get my gems to level 20 before the new 1moth leagues on my main. In this change, i'll probably never actually manage to level gems to 20, nevermind leveling them twice with the GCP recipe |

" It seems easier to get to level 19 and gets harder from there. I'm fine with that given the fact that level 80+ maps will be in the game. If you do some Uber runs (if you haven't already) you'll understand what this means in terms of xp. Seems just a balance move to me. The time to get a level 20 gem should stay roughly the same. Anybody can become angry - that is easy, but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way - that is not within everybody's power and is not easy. If we have to believe to chris that doesn't want the leveling faster than is now, 80-81 maps will give the same xp amount that you can get now from 77/78 - and for gems XP you get more from uber because high density and magic - for normal maps there isn't much difference from low and high.

Another lame change. Takes me now to get to like 88-89 just for 20 then I have to quality them and run starts all over. so about 92-93. Not many even lvl to high 80s let alone mid 90s. Seriously not even looking forward to 2.0.
Progression to first 20 should be faster than q20 1-20. This way your average play through could feel full 20 power of a gem but not quality. Git R Dun!

" How does higher level maps has anything to do with gem experience? Gems do not suffer experience penalty, which is only reason why players are forced to run high level maps. Higher level maps will not speed up gem leveling because it is already proven that clearing low level maps extremely fast is the fastest way to level up gems. It was also observed and commented in several streams that higher level monsters do not give dramatically more experience. It is extremely annoying to level gems twice in current game, first time to get it to lvl20 to use vendor recipe and the other time to get it back up to usable levels. Spell casters are almost forced to level gems in pairs because spell gems are much more dependent on level rather than the gear. I run my main gem + another 1 or 2 important support gems twice in my swap-out gear to shorten the time to get 20% gems. It does not help that some gem's quality bonuses are so strong that 20% is very desired, ie. Immortal Call 20% bonus for low-level CWDT is a must, Increased Duration 20% is great buff, several projectile spells have projectile speed quality bonus, etc. Prolonging that painful process of leveling by adding additional 100m of experience requirements is disappointing. Let's add more boring grind for 20 level gems because the existing boring grind isn't boring enough. /sarcasm

Can't lvl 19 gems drop out of gem-cutter boxes?

Farming zones at 100% exp effectiveness and 0 deaths will get you level 19 gems at level 84 with this change, but you will have to get level 100 and then farm some more to get to gem level 20 which is crazy imo

If it is true it is pretty lame. You already have to level them twice.
