GGG, don't favour streamers for CBT access.

Very much this. They don't bring in a lot of view. I can say the amount of revenue brought to GGG due to streamers are negligible.

Errrr, not sure, but I don't think they have these 1 million views... :|
Why do you care so much that some people (and to be honest, this will be like 5-10 people... :|) will get beta keys? The salt is real.
Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.
Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge.
[Removed by Support] GGG has the right who they pick for their CBT, if you don't get picked, then just wait till the game comes out.
If you can't control it, STOP.

To be fair the screenshot you posted of current viewers is during a pretty low period in twitch viewing for PoE. It's near the end of the 1 month where a lot of people have done what they came to do and moved on and on top of that none of the bigger PoE streamers are on in that pic.

At the start of leagues/patches you have a few thousand people watching PoE which puts it at the 1st or 2nd row of games on twitch which is pretty substantial exposure. I'd be willing to guess that when the beta is up on day 1 there would be something like 5k viewers in the PoE area, and when you see 5k that's just at once, but for the entire day that would be more like 100k "views" flowing through throughout the day to at least click on 1 of the streams.

Giving out like, 10 keys early on to people who will undoubtedly grant the game more exposure hardly seems like something to complain about. I personally wouldn't have cared much if I got to play Beta or not because I can wait for the full version but as a streamer I'd be at a pretty severe disadvantage for the weeks that Beta is up for if I can't make it in. Thus I'll try to be a part of the process and should I get in, do my best to test the new changes/content.

If you're one of the thousands to tune in to the streams during Beta, chances are you aren't in the Beta yourself and I don't see how being given the opportunity to watch some Beta action where you would otherwise not be able to is a downside.

Mathil, you'd tick enough boxes with level of build and play skill to be a worthwhile addition to the beta regardless of the actual streamer status anyways. Hopefully you get a key, if purely for the actual feedback.

While there are some valid points in this thread, a lot of it is driven by disappointment with the actual communication and handling of the beta setup. I wouldn't take it to heart.

Here's a thought. Perhaps anyone who has had a featured build of the week should be automatically admitted.

That seems fair to me. It's a hell of an achievement, after all, and there's no real reward for it.

BoTW shows knowledge, curiosity, ingenuity, originality and the ability/urge for learning new things. Persons like this belongs in a beta, to test things even the devs didn't think of.

Ha, I am really not meeting any of these criteria :)

And Mors is already in for sure, so it's not like anyone who ahem might have copied his build is depriving him of a spot.

Spoiler
I have no idea about any of that, but it sounded funny at the time.

If anything, it should be a random draw. They're no different to those who don't stream. If you're going to do this, you might as well sell access for $10 or something so it's fair for everyone.

It's like on one of ZiggyD's videos he sounded so sure he was going to get in. You shouldn't be depending on streamers so much. I could imagine you losing players if all of the main streamers get access due to it not being fair at all.

Thoughts?

Ziggy is Chris's irl friend if I remember hearing that from somewhere, AND he's alpha member. Obviously he's getting in regardless if he streams or not.

And GGG totally should give access to streamers, even to people that haven't played PoE before. Let's take Datmodz for example, he doesn't have Alpha access, so he should be in line with the rest of us, however, he's played the game and enjoys it, so he would definitely help give the game publicity which further supports generating revenue for GGG.

Let's take a more extreme example and say TrumpSC decides to play. I don't doubt that the complexity of character building would draw him in, but PoE would gain a ton of visibility and GGG would get great feedback from someone who is going in absolutely fresh (unless he's already played it and I don't know).

Giving access to streamers is a good thing. Just don't give it to Lirik who will probably give up in 10 minutes and call the game shitty lol.

Correct on the latter, I don't believe they're 'real life friends' outside of PoE however. I'm sure they've talked off-stream and candidly, but that's not the same thing.

For the record, ZiggyD is one of the few truly high profile streamers with alpha access because he's proven trustworthy with NDA and reveals *only* as much as GGG allows him to reveal, even though leaking and spoiling would certainly get him more views and ultimately make him more money...in the short term.

Ziggy is the man, I hope they give him multiple keys that he can give away during streams
I dont see any any key!
Streamers also will show the game before its released to everyone. I don't think playing the game will be a very cool experience if its spoiled by a stream. Personally won't be watching any streams showing act 4 before I can play it myself. Don't want the new feel to be ruined by someone else playing.
