Wasn't GGG that leaked the information. It was shitty GameRevolution and their breaching of the game press embargo.
It was mostly structured notes, not a full article, so it was very likely a mistake. A bad mistake, but still not intentional
Doesn't matter though if it was intentional or not, that type of behahavior from a 'game news site' is UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR and absolutely atrocious. Not only that, but disrespectful to GGG, Chris Wilson, John, Mark, Bex, Samantha, Erik and other staff members. It's also disrespectful to GGG because they TRUSTED THEM. News sites DO NOT commit these type of mistakes, you sir let me know WHEN gamespot does an 'accidental' leak. They don't.

If anyone's actually enough on the warpath about this to think that if a dev happens to be reading reddit in their off time and sees an opportunity to casually add something to a conversation and interact with a community, that they should be forced to instead come here, find a similar post here (which might not exist) to respond to and do that instead
i got the hint too, thx :)
Spoiler
i didn't care in the past about ggg members doing casual talk on reddit or other external media. i rather complained when ggg gave interviews to newspapers/websites or stated (for me) rather important facts exclusively on reddit or elsewhere without mentioning it here.

As expected.
I never do this, but since you saw fit to quote a dev entirely out of context and in an almost malicious way, I figured...
FIXED THAT FOR YOU.
+1
And people are asking why devs do not post more often here. Probably because they are fed up of being trolled, misquoted, flamed by kids.

Chill down lad. This happens all the time. Did you forget the Scion reveal leak? it was meant to be a secret but everybody knew it because of some leaked pictures.

You do realize that in that reddit post you linked one of the top responses is a link to the official path of exile forums to a post by Chris about those armour sets from October???
Is it so hard to check reddit and official forums? Its not hard to track dev posts...
And as for interviews and exclusive info to newspapers/websites this is something they need to do to attract new people to the game. The need to release information through these avenues that reach people who aren't currently or who have never played the game. In order to get gaming news sites to want to spend time making articles and videos about the game they need to give them new and exclusive information.
Eh, no. That was simply a peak towards the historical records of there being more and firstly information on reddit, instead of here.
You know, I see this all the time. I don't think it's actually true.
It's not. It's just a popular opinion, which counts a lot more than truth in getting people to believe it.

Announcements are always posted here first. The info we get from reddit first is usually just tidbits from casual conversations.
Yes, Reddit gets more casual conversations from devs (I think...) but we get the announcements, which are more information-dense. Reddit can repost those all they want, but it was still here first.
Depends heavily on the dev in question, and in total last time and actual count was done (that I saw) the forum was still slightly in the lead.

Can we get a stickied thread just filled with Mark's Barehanded Smackdown replies? Every one I've read has just been gold-pressed text.
