Molten Strike + Iron Grip...does it work?

Hello,
The title pretty much sums it up... I have this crazy zealing duelist using Molten Strike and was wondering if the projectiles from Molten Strike got the bonus off Iron Grip? I am already using point blank which i know that one works with Molten Strike. Not so sure about Iron Grip though...it would be cool to see the actual projectile damage off skills like this. (Molten Strike and Lightning Strike) Thanks! |

HELL NO!
It does not work. Same argument as within lightning strike. By all logic it seems to work, but no, the game is designed to make no bonus damage apply to the projectiles. I have also personally tested it with both lightning and molten strike just to confirm. Dont bother arguing with me why this should work. I have ran lightning strike for one whole year on my marauder to know that. |

LOL dude no. dont bother arguing the logic with me. It s not logical. The game is just designed that iron grip doesnt apply to lightning strike and molten strike.
Can any GM verify this for me please. I am tired of explaining. Everyone only theorytalks, only I tried iron grip on those 2 skills before. |

So what exactly are you basing it on? It doesn't show in the tooltip DPS. All game mechanics point to iron grip benefits moltenstrike projectiles.

Okay you people deserve a better explanation. I think I remember the explanation GGG gave us before.
Basically I have been running lightning strike for a year on a pathetic one handed marauder which I sought all manners to improve it. I checked up the forum section on gem skill discussion on lightning strike and flipped through the first 20 pages. There, I finally found one of the official statement from a moderator that iron grip indeed does not boast projectiles unless it is ranged damage. As far as concerned, lightning strike only works with meelee weapon anyway. It was only then I finally understood why my iron grip gem never seemed to make my projectiles hit harder. Now there is this molten strike, which I tried with iron grip again and nothing seems to hit harder. However I am not sure if this molten strike can be used with a ranged weapon. |
