Economy broken, or am I missing something?

I'd take 4 ex in 2 weeks. With a smile.
Noblesse oblige
The economy would be broken if you were able to afford the best items in the game after playing for one month.

.... a very reasoned response

You make valid points and I do "get" what you mean, but it doesn't clear the niggles I have in my head about how items are valued and what use they are to the target market/player and how much "cash" the player has for their level.

I also understand the need to "work with what you have", and I like that about the game. Its nice to re-jig the socket colours to gain better DPS or survivability (even though the RnG is shit and makes me weep). I'm truly not that hung up on getting a venerated 6L chest, sure it would be nice, but the sockets aren't everything if the stats aren't right or you don't have additional items to balance whats missing.

For example, I bought this for 22c

Spoiler

I can't really use it since losing the stats of my current chest would hobble my build (i.e. losing about 800 ES), but I think it was a fair price. What isn't right though was someone trying to sell something very similar for 10+ Ex.

So, the market isn't broken, just sellers not knowing the true value of what an item is worth or who they are trying to sell it to?

Don't get me wrong, I've bought some decent stuff from good sellers too that I'm using right now:

I do, especially as I learn the drop rates of such items. It's also nice to get a "gz" from party members when one drops.

Wow, useless comment is useless. I guess you don't like the words Massively and Multiplayer in your games?

I would say the 6link chest you bought for 22c is quite junk for most of the people, because no life, lots of low rolls and worst thing: corrupted (guess you didnt corrupted that thing). Without the corrupted status it would be worth already exalts, as you could throw chaos orbs on it to get some decent rolls.

So nope....price of 22c is fair and somebody selling something similiar without corrupted status for several exalts is fair as well.
useful thread 10/10. thank you
drop rate is much better and people just dont get enough.

Astroyka, everything you have described are signs of a healthy economy, not a broken one. 6-links are rare and powerful. However, you can buy some of them for very cheap. I would sell my 6 link staff in ambush to you for 5 chaos or so ;-)

You will drop a 6-link if you keep playing. It will probably be a Tabula Rasa, but you will drop one. Or, you could try to fuse one yourself. There are lots of pathways to one, and with your currency you could afford a Tabula Rasa right now.

Most people farm using the chaos recipe. You can sell one of each item slot unidentified (over level 60) to a vendor and he will give you 2 chaos in return. This is how people generate currency in the new leagues.
