PoE + SSD Drive.

I had a 7200rpm HDD in my old PC and it was slow as hell to load PoE on it. On cold start it would take several minutes to load (sufficient time to go to the kitchen and have some food).

Now I'm using dual SSD with RAID-0, and PoE just flies. SSD is indeed the best upgrade you can do in your PC nowadays. Everything that uses plain old HDD seems to be... broken now.

But... still, PoE shouldn't take so long to load. It is still the slowest game in my machine to load. I thinks there's still room for improvement from GGG.

Not sure why the game takes quite so long to load off a regular 7200rpm drive but it was - so I switched it to booting from my Samsung 840 Pro ssd - dramatic improvement as expected and my cold start is now sub-10 seconds.

I think you will regret if you buy it, better upgrade your CPU or GPU. Because you are just loading as fast as i do w/o one.

My current AMD 6850 + i5 2500 3.3GHz run PoE fine. It runs at a steady 60fps with V-Sync on (100 or so with it off) at max settings.
I doubt I would see any improvement through a CPU or GPU upgrade on PoE either (and as of right now, I know my current HDD is my bottle neck).

Old HDD = 63 Seconds load time
New SSD = 18 Seconds load time
Changing zones is noticeably quicker as well.

Cheers guys.

Nice upgrade! Congrats.

I really should get a character to End Game to experience Maps.
Had on getting there but then the race season started and I found that all I was doing was racing rather than leveling.
SSD more expensive than my hd6850 :/
Squirrel is love, Squirrel is life.
I use the poor man's SSD for PoE, which is RamDisk :P
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
