Unwavering stance - working as intended?

PoE has several "on hit" or "on crit" mechanics. Some of them trigger only when dealt a certain type of damage like for example Ignite.

Stun is also an on hit mechanic, but can be caused by every type of damage.
Whether or not a target will be stunned is determined by the amount of damage dealt and the amount of max hp the target has. You need to deal a certain % of the targets max hp in a single hit to have a chance to stun. The higher your damage, the higher your chance to stun. It can even go up to 100% if you deal enough damage.

ooooh! now that makes it interesting, thanks for explaining.

now, does armour lower the chance to get stunned as well? if its based on damage, im assuming it does?

Go to the wikilink I posted in my earlier reply. It explains all these and more.

All types of damage cause stuns. All hits have a chance to stun, the harder the hit the higher the chance. At a certain damage threshold(relative to your HP) the enemy has 100% chance to stun.

Resists and armor will decrease the chance you'll get stunned since they decrease the amount of damage done to you. Stuns go off by the percent of damage done to you so high HP is also the best defense.

so, its an ability stun - that i would like to be added to the tool tip, because its tricked me into thinking it works against all stun effects,

"Cannot be stunned by normal means, ability stuns still stun you" - perhaps

but a minor detail.

So i learned a new lesson today! Ability stuns are different types of stuns!

It's not even really an ability stun...
It's literally a BEAR TRAP. Go step in one IRL and see if you can move lmao.

Stun is determined by damage dealt and max hp of the target, so if you have armour your damage wil be reduced by x%, hence the chance to stun/to be stunned will be lower. So yes, armour does affect stun in that sense.

As a new player, armour might be just as confusing as stun, though. Armor in this game is different than in most games. I recommend checking the wiki to understand the armour mechanics aswell.

oh right, immobilize - after now finding this out, im not even sure i want this node now.... i mean, if i can still be stuck in one spot, it kind of makes it pointless outside of cold freezing me, right? - i mean this in the terms of me being a bow build, to move around alot, if i can still be stuck in one spot getting this node....Hmm....yeah.....

Can you guys explain what else this unwavering stance is also good for? outside of cold freezing me etc

Unwavering Stance is good for preventing being Stunlocked by Undead Charging Rhoas for example.
