Warning : Epileptic seizures might occur when playing Path of exile. Give us more Graphics options.

Something needs to be done.
There needs to be a possibility to make the game more soothing for lower end systems (though my new pc is also having quite some trouble) and for the EYES. My brother has a mild case of epilepsy and had to stop Poe because he was in danger of collapsing. It gives me a headache just being in a full group. Some spells and effects cause tremendous Frame drops. Now you could say, "Play something else" or "Get a better PC" or "Dont play in a large group" But these are arrogant and useless suggestions. "Russell wrote: We wont ever have an option to disable weather effects as it removes the atmosphere of the environments." Its a nice thought Russel, but how can any1 enjoy this "atmosphere" if everything is stuttering at 10fps. I am running the game on lowest texture settings without shadows on my brand new pc. Now THAT really immerses me.. I do not understand why options to reduce spell and weather effects shouldn't be introduced. What would be the drawback? Please clear me up on this, because it is a problem for many people. Dernière édition par Ricekrispies#5680, le 11 août 2013 à 10:30:50

Im confused at why posts like these just end up without replies.
Every group I join, I get complaints about my build lagging people, others complaining about certain builds lagging them, people being forced to leave the group because of some1 joining with a framekilling build. GGG is trying to make a game that looks great and has wonderful effects, and sticks to this plan. But at the same time, people are going into the txt file, editing options manually, to nerf graphics noticably. Some people even manually turn off all sounds to minimize lag!!!! This means people are playing PoE with graphics resembling Baldurs Gate, and are still dealing with bad frame drops. Why not just give these people a viable, not so ugly solution for this? Make new Spells skins that are less offensive to eyes and computer, or make some graphics settings turning off certain spell effects. Something!! " Because there are no reasons to oppose lower graphic settings and few people have reasons to want them. Also you might note that lag is rarely if ever caused by the graphics or sound effects associated with a skill/build. From what I know lag and desync are increased by skills/builds that demand more calculations from the server... I'm guessing skills that move you around very fast, hit many opponents or use many projectiles. What higher quality graphics and sound do is take up a lot of memory on the client computer causing occasional crashes. At least that's what I know.. Edit:I guess if your computer is really bad and it wouldn't handle calculating the animations too well, it might cause delays itself. even though my computer is pretty shitty and lags like hell in an all out fire fight, without the lag I still would not be able to make out shit on the screen simply because its too hectic. everything is exploding and items fill up the screen

Fenrir, I am not an engineer, ill admit that, but i have done some playing around with settings with friends, and certain spells/effects/animations/sounds cause a lot of lag. I mean there are microtransactions for spells that Lag more then the original. Cant there be skins doing the contrary? I would buy a skin reducing my spells lags! Heres 10$ for it.
But this isnt about lag in the sense of desync, or jumping, this is Framerate lag. This is dropping from 120fps to 30 or lower when there are burning patches, incinerate totems, gmp fireball banners, 30 zombies and sceptres, gmp ice arrow making ice patches, etc. These constant drops make it very unenjoyable at times, even very risky. And its hard enough to tell whats going on with 6 people spamming aoe spells. And seriously, i built myself a pretty nice pc 2 weeks ago, just so i can play maps with friends without being fucked by lag, and even though its slightly better, its still lagging ALOT. And dont tell me my pc isnt good enough, GGG cant expect people to pay 10k$ for a pc to be able to play this smoothly or am i wrong? Is this some elitist nerd version of golf? only for the rich? It can't be that hard to give us a few useful graphics options can it? And I doubt this is only my problem, ive met enough people in the same situation. |

hmm... your situation is a bit odd... my computer is at least 4 or 5 years old and it wasn't top of the line even back then (for reference I have an intel core 2 duo processor and 4gb of RAM running the 32bit version of Win7... my graphic card is newer, but not top of the line either).
I can run PoE with high graphic settings (not sure if I ever tried the highest), but I occasionally got crashes when switching areas. So now I run it with lower graphics and -gc2. I don't remember if I modified the config file too, but now texture_quality is 1. I still have shadows and sound enabled and the game looks and feels pretty good. I admit I have no idea what happens when playing in a party... I've never tried it. |

I have no problem when playing alone, though using my ice shot totem does give me slight fps drops because of the ice patches and the ice shot animation.
And to be clear. This is not "my" situation. I am making this thread for many people. Many of my friends have these problems with new systems, and i play in a lot of random groups where people complain about the use of certain skills because of the frame loss problem. |
