Claws

I use Whirling Blades as an AoE-skill for my claw shadow.

I also use it on my dagger shadow :P

And it's not that great as an "aoe skill" - its base damage is lower than slam and it's slow/clunky, even with a lot of attack speed. It's great fun, but more a utility spell.

Also Chris said on Kripp's stream last night:

"There will be a new keystone next patch. Don't quote me on this, but it will be lifesteal converted to energy shield steal for claws."

New keystone sounds mad, can't wait for some unique claws to be found
Hell yeah, I asked for ES steal for shadows also. Something like "If life is full steal half the amount as energy shield"

I made a dual claw witch with double strike instead of dual for survivability. Around level 30 you can leech 30 life per attack just from your claws and there's usually some other gear as well or life on hit support. As soon as you reach shadow part of the tree you get lots of attack speed and can hit more then four times per second with double strike which translates to 120+ life per second which isn't too shabby.

You can stay alive well enough one-on one with anything or small groups but as soon as it gets hairy you need to bail out as she's just too sqishy, well, that's just what the whirling blades are for.
Respect your passive skills and they shall respect you in turn.
I dont see a problem to get str for shadow. atm i have +50 str with nodes and i can easily get +60 more. Also Belt gives 35 base amulet gives +20 base and you can have them rare +20-40 str bonus. Its easyer to get str for shadow then int.

I think now there is also a big problem after you switch from claw with life on hit to % based leech. 15 life for every target goes down to 1% physical damage. And there is now way you are dealing anywhere close to 1500 damage in mid 30's. I didn't get to use claws much but I think especialy for new players would create a very hard transition period to lvl's 40+.

Actually the early claws are so incredible strong, that I used them on my marauder just because of the life on hit :P

Combined with Double Strike it is incredible hard to get killed (well from everything beside the Act II Boss^^).
So I've been having a romp in Default league since the new patch came out. I usually do hardcore... but this new boss is kicking my butt. Especially as a Shadow. What builds make him easy to deal with? In Cruel he was one shotting my Shadow over and over.

I killed him on my first try in Cruel - claw dual-wielding shadow with pure evasion + acrobatics, ~650 HP. I used mostly whirling blades + life on hit combined with viper strike. As for the adds - I tried to take care of them using whirling blades because the boss spawns them in what pretty much amounts to a line. When my life dipped below 20% or so I created a frost wall to block projectiles along with a rejuvenation totem to heal up. I assume fire traps should work as well because the boss is stationary most of the time.

In Ruthless my build is hard countered by archers. Even with 800 HP many attacks bring my health down to around 50%. I rage quitted chambers of sin twice yesterday the reason being multiple instagibs right after entering a room.
What were the changes to the claw passives?

So far, no one knows. The only thing we do know is we're getting an energy shield leech key stone next patch.
