How many % energy shield nodes for CI?

I'm making a CI cold shadow in hardcore league. This is my first CI build, so I'm not sure how many % energy shield nodes should I take in the passive tree. Like 200%, 300% increase?
I will try to get as many as possible, but I don't want to gimp my damage too much.
So if there's any high level CI player in hardcore leage, please let me know what should I take. Thanks.

hey i play defaut but i think we share the same goal as to not die, so i think i can help you with that. I took chaos inoculation and all passives after that, plus unnatural calm node. Its sufficient to boost my es to 4.3k with a lvl 20 discipline aura. Mind you i have 557 int aswell, so thats another 111% es increase.

Its by no means immortal but my lvl 87 witch can solo maps up to 72 (highest one i ever found), and i run in self found gear. Hope it helps. =P

"All of them" is the answer you usually get in game.

Around 200%+ is safe I believe, that's generally how much ES I've seen from other CI characters in hardcore (including my own). Personally I am planning on getting 230%-ish on mine.

Honestly, it really goes down to your gear and how high ES it is. If you get a 700+ ES chest, and a 300+ ES helmet then you can get up to 6k+ ES with just the CI & post CI passives + nullification, for example.

Alright, thanks for replies. In my planned build I have about 250% es increase from passives and a nice mix of defensive and offensive nodes. I don't want to be a tank with no damage, and I don't want to be a glass cannon, so I'm planning for a nice balance of the two as I mostly play solo.

5k is really low considering some map rhoas hit for close to 6 7k remeber ci mean clsoe to zero armor

In my summoner build, I can get to 16k armor with just a kite shield, and a granite flask, because of the armor/es nodes I grabbed over in the templar area.

Personally, I would say get as many as you can.
